If you play a Male character, then wear a hat such as General Erodus’ Tricorne, it will remove their hair and show them being bald. This happens with several of the updated male character models and helmets or hats that don’t fully cover your head.
You know it does–and has always done, even with the old models–that with the men and women of every race with the exception of worgen and tauren, right?
It is to avoid clipping.
On any character model*
Females get that treatment too and its annoying. Especially for monks…
That isn’t true. Look at the races that don’t get bald heads, like the Void Elf Males. Instead of making them bald, it gives them short hair.
As an orc I get bald head in the back
True, a few races do get short hair. Still, it gets rid of your hair model (which is especially noticeable if you have long hair) and makes hats virtually unwearable on most characters if you want them to have long hair.
Everyone on Azeroth gets helmet hair real bad
Not before they fix BElf women getting a buzzcut.
There are no cool hats I can wear.
It’s the Asmon effect.
I’d like it on Pandaren, too. No hats look good on us, because Pandaren without hair look really weird.
That kinda goes out the window when half our hats already dont care about clipping. The ones with big colars clip perfectly fine through everything while a hat that would rest perfectly fine on my head I get a buzzcut for for no reason.
You want your hair model to be eating the top of the hat?
Because that is what would happen in most cases.
Blizzard just needs to make the “hat hair” model tied to the hats (which is different per race) longer.
Their model system isn’t setup correctly to really make the hats look good with your actual hair, sadly. Too old school.
I’m glad helmets don’t care about my horns. It would be torture having to cut them off and grow them back any time I change my transmog.
I have random running with arms straight down on one toon. We called it the Airborne Shuffle in the U.S. Army. I believe he actually does that more than running with his arms bent.
