Right now if you aren’t aware, if your team doesn’t win the initial lag fest team fight at hangar, half your team leaves and you lose the battleground. The reason for this? Hangar is a broken overpowered objective to acquire and is far to easy to win with and defend.
The main problem which im sure most people think is a valid argument, is that you can “defend” glaives and win the game. Those type of people frustrate me and are also stupid. Have you played an IoC recently? The glaives have 180k health and die in 3 seconds even to 1 dps on it with 10 people defending. The glaives are simply so squishy that there’s no point even getting them.
And since nobody takes or deals damage in this expansion, these dps players are able to easily survive long enough even when vastly outnumbered and destroy the glaives. They are simply too squishy.
Hangar gunships are UNTARGETABLE and do massive damage to the doors. They allow your team to jump into the opposing teams’ base and run bombs. There is simply ZERO counter to getting hangar and thats why its so incredibly, undeniably vital to get at the beginning.
A battleground based entirely around controlling one flag is not a good battleground. IoC is complete cancer and absolute trash and needs to be removed, or have the gunship be targetable by the turrets at your team’s respective base.
OR
BUFF GLAIVE HEALTH. To at least 2-3 million health. They are absolutely useless right now in this patch because they die in 2 seconds no matter who is defending.
If i was a developer at blizzard, i would have this battleground fixed IN A DAY. But i guess blizzard doesn’t hire smart people.

It’s actually 281k health on the glaives, but either way… they don’t last very long at all
281k health really is nothing these days, that’s like 4-5 hits from most reasonably geared players.

Glaive throwers actually do more DPS than the airship guns, the only “problem” is keeping them alive. Glass cannons lol
With a pug group of uncoordinated players, it’s almost impossible to “defend” them. I imagine a coordinated premade group MIGHT be able to make docks work, but even that is a tall order.
If enemy players decide to suicide themselves into the glaives, there is almost nothing you can do to stop them (you’ll quickly run out of stuns/CC).
It’s “hangar or bust” these days, that’s just the meta whether we like it or not.
Hangar is obviously the best node by far, but you can still win without it. You need to really focus on keeping quarry and refinery while defending vehicles. Also helps if the other team tries to run bombs in your keep, which isn’t uncommon.

its not possible to win without hangar, but it is possible to lose with hangar. those are not the same thing, and one shouldn’t count a win without hangar to be a victory or proof that alternative strats work.
If my team loses with hangar… that means that the enemy team won without it.

not always, if the only reason you won is because the other team played so poorly that it would be difficult not to win. then you didn’t really win, they lost.
if you have hangar and still lose, they didn’t win, you lost. and visa versa, if you dont have hangar and still win, you didn’t win, they simply lost.
the meta is Hangar+D not Hangar alone. if you lost with hangar, it means you didn’t do the +D part, meaning you failed to follow the proper strat. this means that if you don’t have hangar, the only way for you to “win” is for the other team to lose. this is why a win with docks does not count.
Sorry, but I play on alliance. A win is a win for me, even a crappy win.
Won one without Hangar over the weekend, Had docks and WS. The only reason we won was because Horde did not attack the glaives. they attacked the catas and seige.
That said. I have destroyed all three glaives in a burst of cooldowns all by myself with 8 or 9 horde defending the glaives. 8.3 gear is just too powerful for glaives to survive.

When the opposing team wins hanger and 10 players promptly jump into the base to run bombs … you have won the game without hanger … happens a lot especially during BG week where all the PvE players with their fancy gear can win team fights but have absolutely no fricking idea how to play the BG.
I’ve only been saying this the whole expac. Yet people don’t want to listen.
thats still them losing. the problem with hangar+D is that if you make no mistakes there is no counter or recovery for the other team. whereas if you have mid+docks the only way to win is if the other team fails part of their strategy.
if you think of it like a race, hangar is by far the fastest runner in the race, the only way for mid/docks to win the race at all is if hangar trips and falls. its a sour win.
edit, oh, and if they get mid+hangar with a siege firing on mid and demos defending hangar flag that is game over. it is impossible to recover against that. and in that situation, alliance has the further advantage in that their airship can fire on hangar to defend the demos and siege.
