Is BfA the Horde's lowest point?

i have 26 twinks…horde, alliance, elves, humans, orcs, undeads…even a single VULPERA (Shame on me, i know)

BfA is both the lowest and highest point for the Horde since Cataclysm since it both forces Horde players to be complicit in some of the most despicable acts ever taken in the Warcraft universe, but it also finally shoves off the yoke of the Sylvanas-dominated narrative that has been in place since Cataclysm that by association, was making the Horde into a darker faction (as it made even Garrosh take a step back at what she was doing, prior to his own tomfoolery) and even dominated the narrative through Legion and most of BfA.

It feels like a fresh start again. That would not (and should not) have been necessary if the writing was better, but at least BfA gave us that if nothing else.

Also, the Zandalari stuff in BfA was amazing, though I may be a little biased here.

As I see it, that just shows that the characters you play don’t define your faction preference. So having characters on a particular faction doesn’t prove that you don’t strongly support the other one.

… The what, now?

there are some guys playing alliance that would rather play horde but friends happened, this is not my case.

I merely had to show you can play and main a faction and totally go on a tirade that you really hate it, he can play both and really hate them, hate neither or only hate one of them it doesnt mean he prefers one over the other its not my business if thats how he does his immersion for all we know he could play he is his own lover a la romeo and juliet over the faction divide.

You should probably go re-read his quotes, then.

Man … just started the Prepatch stuff. They really are planning on shoving Calia Menethil down our throats aren’t they? Like, holy crap, between Lor’themar fawning all over her; Valeera pretending the two of them are “caught between two worlds”; and Voss (a character who actually does represent the Forsaken experience) constantly reinforcing she’s a temp … ugh.

Blizzard … really is tone deaf on how certain “Horde” characters are received. Seriously, it does feel like Blizz is so averse to writing Horde characters they are planning on turning Alliance-Alliance/Neutral ones into Horde characters instead. I seriously have very little hope they chose Baine for one of two Horde reps in SLs because of his character and characterization needs.

It took you this long? :stuck_out_tongue:

Sigh … the poor guy just cannot be allowed to escape his token good horde plot device status.

I mean, c’mon, he gets pooped out by the jailor because he’s worthless after being kidnapped. How the hell are we supposed to be inspired at all by a character who’s been turned into a pet of a writers pet? God … for the first time in ages he finally is in a position for his characterization to come first AND for it to come away from Anduin … but he’s likely just along for the ride because he’s easy to write around.

Honestly I assumed the whole meta reason for him being there was -because- of his connection to Anduin. It could be some hokey Thrall + Jaina + Baine power of friendship combo saving Anduin from a fall of grace sort of thing.

Jaina is there for the same reason Calia is there, for some Arthas redemption story.

Thrall “might” if we’re lucky get some growth with Mommy, but I don’t trust the writers completely not to turn him back into the single worst iteration of his character to ever exist. Creepy, stalker, dead-parent Thrall. Baine on the other hand … we could have some growing experiences to toughen him up a bit without Anduin around. More likely he’s there because he’s convenient to write around, to make it feel like the Horde faction is being included in a story that wasn’t really meant to include us. Like Legion.

??? Anduin himself completely absolved the Horde of all guilty for all they’ve done. The message to take away from BFA is that the Horde is utterly immune from all responsibility and nothing they do to the Alliance will ever get them any consequences.

This is a 2 faction multiplayer game where both factions are meant to have their own strengths and weaknesses, but “letting the other faction genocide one of our races and doing nothing in return” is the ultimate weakness. No other ‘weakness’ can rival it and no strength can undo it.

Do you know what relative means? If the Horde is as small as a rat, and Alliance as small as a microbe, the Horde is ‘relatively’ bigger.

The Alliance got one of their races almost wiped out by the Horde and ended up having to team up with one half of the Horde to have a chance of defeating the other.

I’m not saying the Horde was portrayed as strong in BFA, but definitely compared to the Alliance they were.

The faction that had its 2nd Civil War was portrayed as stronger?

If you say so…

He know it was his fault the entire war started in the first place.

The faction that the Alliance couldn’t beat without splitting them in half to take down the other half?Yes.

The end of BFA was like two soccer teams facing each other, and one side feels so sorry for the other they send of their own players to help the other side to give them a chance.

The Alliance didn’t split the Horde in half, it split itself. That started during WoT. Let’s also not forget that the Alliance won every battle in BfA following the WoT.

The split Horde and Alliance didn’t defend Stormwind from the other half of the Horde, they marched on Orgrimmar. Because that’s where the Horde got pushed back to.

Anduin had to give his magical plot device sword to Saurfang for his fight with Sylvanas. And then, just like his father, gave a speech. To the Horde. IN THEIR CAPITAL.

Alliance players:REEEE!!!Doesn’t count!

How could anyone honestly play BfA and actually think the horde was potrayed as the better or stronger faction? Did these people actually play the same expansion as everyone else?

“Walk with me the rest of the way”
He was invited.

Which changes what?

To the fight, not to moralize to the horde inside their own capital

It would be disrespectful and insulting to deny an invitation. I think it should be mentioned negatively if he didn’t pay his last respects to Saurfang.
