Is BfA supposed to be this hard?

Hi! I’m a new player, and I’ve been leveling my hunter through Kul Tiras to unlock the Allied Races. I’ve talked to my guildmates, and asked if the leveling, and especially the dungeons is supposed to be this hard. I can barely fight more than 3 enemies at a time. The dungeons are almost impossible, as I’ve been in 4 different groups for one dungeon, all where we die at the first boss, or the second one. Is it supposed to be this hard? Or is BfA just very broken?

I had to bring a lvl 70 guildie to help me with Waycrest Manor, cause I had to beat it to finish the Drustvar story. He said that even with his M+ gear, he had a harder time doing this dungeon with me, than actually doing M+.

I’m not sure if anyone else here has experienced the same as I did leveling through this expansion. I’m not really sure how Blizzard tuned BfA as the new player experience. It’s very very difficult.

I think something is off with the tuning. I haven’t done a dungeon with the last 2 toons I’ve leveled, because the previous one couldn’t do Freehold at level 20; it was too ridiculously hard.

I leveled a hunter through BFA last week and it starts to get “tough” in the 40s I think, and doesn’t let up until you go to DF at 60. I say “tough”, because my hunter could solo anything. But, I feel the time to kill a mob was way too high, and other classes might struggle.

I’m leveling this druid right now, and I think I’m 27. So far, I haven’t hit the spot where the tuning gets wonky; I’m still able to solo 3 person quests and take down mobs fairly close to when the stun breaks after a stealth attack. We’ll see how he does when he gets into the 40s.

Blizz seriously needs to look at this tuning and ensure it’s what they actually want or if it is bugged.

I think there’s something off, too. I was able to do solo questing with a fire mage in BfA content prior to DF, and I did fine in dungeons, but now even my level 70 mage is getting wailed on in dungeons.

Yes, I know fire mages shafted in DF …

This! I had a fairly easy time on Tiragarde, but when I got to the end of Tiragarde, and now Drustvar, it’s painfully difficult to even attack more than 3 enemies, and there’s so many enemies in BfA too, that overwhelm you so fast you can’t even react before getting killed. I’m almost lvl 60, but it’s painful.

The tuning is wrong with BFA dungeon now. I did on a lvl 70 and mobs are lvl 60 on normal and down to 51 in Heroic/Mythic. And the normal has more hp than the other mobs and also dmg sinse they are 10 level higher

I’m an experienced player. The BFA dungeons are broken. Tuned poorly, too much HP etc. I wouldn’t even waste your time to queue them to be honest. They messed up scaling giving older dungeons more HP. Some expansion dungeons are still fine (classic/BC/WoTLK/MoP) - but after that it gets pretty wonky. The dungeons take too long for a simple ‘normal’ while leveling(til you get to Shadowland normals, they still seem ok). As someone who has Chromie time open, I would never go to BFA. Putting new players there is a giant mistake.

If this is true, then Blizzard needs to fix this asap.

I reported the bug dont know if they will do something about it. But it happened if few BFA dungeon I did for transmog

BfA was slightly broken before the prepatch already, and it’s been totally broken since then.

It’s insane that Blizzard isn’t prioritizing sorting that out, since it’s their forced new player experience.

Waycrest manor scaling got borked. It’s def harder than even during BFA. Tree boss atleast

If you’re just doing the dungeons for the allied race unlocks, they can be skipped. When you get to the point in the campaigns where you’re sent to the dungeons, accept the quest but then talk again to the quest giver again. You should have a new choice where it says that they can take care of the dungeon for you and you’ll complete the quest.

i don’t recall any dungeons being required to unlock allied races?

lvl 63? new?? bait?? nom noms???

They are probably talking about the dungeon quests you obtain during normal zone questing; those need to be completed if you want to see any of those quests/lore. For example, early on you get a Freehold quest from Flynn and I am unaware of it being able to be skipped.

War campaign and allied race dungeon quests can be skipped/auto completed.

Haven’t leveled since 10.0 released. BFA leveling was a bit rough in SL, if I recall, because you had players scaled from 1-50 and you could be in a dungeon with someone who doesn’t have key skills yet. The one thing I have noticed about BFA is that Dunegorger in Vol’dun is completely jankified and no longer soloable, even though it was a not too difficult task at level 60 in SL.

looks like they started 2 years ago.

considering the entire rest of the playerbase has been playing since “vanilla beta”, then yes, they’d be new :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

At 60 you officially “aged” out bfa content you can pretty much gut the heroics solo np.
Were they trying to run mythics?

Didn’t know this! Thanks!

Used my DF boost on this character, and did some DF questing! But I’m pretty new otherwise.

I tanked it fine the other day on my 59 DK.

During prepatch, I went into a BfA normal dungeon at ivl 290-ish, and it was awful. I could have soloed a Shadowlands Heroic with way less effort and time. But looking at the hack job they did with scaling, I would expect the same for any non-SL content too.
