Currently items like the boots and belt are simming more dps at 425 with no socket than 455 boots and belts from the raid and M+. With a socket at 425 ilvl these items are equivalent to 480 gear which doesn’t exist.
I’m down to farm on all my alts and fish for sockets, but I just want to know if they are getting nerfed before I spend a bunch of time doing that.
I doubt they’ll nerf them. The time it would take to farm out the BiS scenario for your benthic gear would be insane specially with the 420 upgrade being 50 manapearls.
For some specs, sockets could be worth up to 30 ilvls in extreme cases so while i would tend to agree, it certainly isn’t outside the realm of possibility.
An example is that one variation of the Benthic Boots gives like 3% larger crits. Some classes rely largely on crits. My top damaging spell is Lavaburst, which has a 100% crit rate. So the passive effect from the boots will increase my top damaging spell by 3%.
This is a very strong effect, which means that it will not be unusual for a 425 benthic piece to be better than a 455 non benthic piece (which will be missing that effect).
Sockets are worth roughly 15 ilvls depending on spec. The Benthic proc is worth about 35-40 ilvls. At 425 ilvl they are as good or better than 455 max titanforge gear with a socket.
Well Akston worded it much better than I did, but even still, are you saying something that ridiculous is beyond reason in WoW? You know I’m right. Lol
To be clear, I’m not asking for a nerf, only if Blizz can decide now if they are going to nerf or not. I’ve rolled 20 boots so far and just want to make sure I’m not wasting my time trying to get the right boots with the socket.
