Is azeroth in a multi-planetary solar system?

Like…okay what if Argus, draenor, Xoroth, and the like are all just in the same solar system.

I think that’d really put some things in perspective as to the range of warlock summoning spells and the amount of stuff sargeras actually saw before deciding to eradicate everything.

We know that they Draenei traveled to many hundreds of planets trying to find a safe place to hide from the Legion. So no all these planets are not in the same place.

It gets a little muddled with Argus and Draenor/outland because they were pulled into the Twisting Nether which is different from the Great Dark Beyond (outer space in WoW)

While we have no real info about the overall size of the Warcraft universe, we do know it is much larger than one solar system. We also know there are millions upon millions of inhabited worlds in the Great Dark Beyond. The Legion and the Old Gods have been killing all life on as many of these worlds as they could find.

I mean, give titans are literal planets, I’m going to say it’s bigger than a solar system.

No it’s a multidimensional they are all in different dimensions. Let’s look at our solar system for instance, you see only the formed planets. Well Aezorth does have it’s own system like ours but they just don’t show them. The map and celestial models that you see in wow are the different dimensions that were seen by scholars that have studied them for thousands of years ,where they get this knowledge ? No one knows.

I can’t help but wonder what Thiernax and Qadrian looked like before they were deer and unicorns respectively…

this is false, they’re in the same universe (The Great Dark) just very far apart, the Draenei literally arrived in a space ship

If so then why illidan needed to open a dimensional portal to bring Argus through to Azeroth. When they could’ve opened a way to it. It 's because it was in a different time and space <dimension.

by that logic Org and Thunder Bluff are in different dimensions because you can see them through a mage portal…

yup, they are.Let me explain, space and space are leaked the place you see is the time you see it by magic but it is only a off by a little if I were to do the wrong incantation in any way I’ll been ported to a another dimension of reality, that is why you take years of study not to mess up. I don’t want to be the in between or void rift.

Looking at the night sky, there doesn’t seem to be indication of planets. You can see the sun and moon drift across the sky slowly, in little skips. The rest of the sky seems to be stars and nebulae.
I know this is probably just an engine limitation but I like to think this implies some sort of cosmic clockwork machine ticking Azeroth around its star.

It’d be interesting to see the creative developers establish a canon planetary system whether it’s just a single planet or multiple

The same reason all prior invasions of Azeroth have been the Burning Legion attempting to build enough/big enough portals for their army to get through.

Portals bridge space/time instantly. Slow-boating it takes a long time. It took the Draenei 15,000 + Years to get from Argus to Azeroth.

To put that into perspective, the Legion is still at least 5,000 years faster getting to Azeroth through failed portal attempts, than the Draenei got there through space travel.

Remember, Space is big. Like Really Big.

While the Draenei tried many hundreds of planets to hide from the Legion, we don’t know if their ships have sub-luminal drives or FTL drives powered by techno/crystalline-magic.

If they have sub-luminal drives, then Argus could be in an entire other Galactic Arm of the Galaxy Azeroth is in. If they have FTL drives… Azeroth could be in a whole other Galaxy than Argus.

But something that is fairly consistent across the WoW Universe is the existence of Arcane Magic, and where the Legion can detect the use of Arcane Magic by sentient beings they can send portals that instantly bridge the gap. First sending small infiltrators, then as they gain a foothold more advanced forces until they have enough on-planet to open up the flood-gates and send in the full might of the Legion.

They’re also immortal, and come back after they die. So casualties, portal mis-haps, and resistance are immaterial to them. Thus while portals are riskier, it’s still faster for them to use portal-based forces and magic to transport themselves throughout the Universe then evolving faster and better starship tech.

The strangest thing is the observatories seem to have the same planets as does Azeroth have if you seen them.if they really are different time and space why are they the same? You see if I were to see the motions of stars on another world they would be in a different position on all of them like Dreanor. This one is still puzzling to me.

As another poster said, it seems that Azeroth’s ‘solar system’ is kind of a clockwork mechanism.

Its an idea borrowed from a fantasy world called Glorantha, the idea that the Titans(or gods) set up the world as a perfectly functioning mechanism that is now broken.

Earthen/Dwarves were created to serve as the maintenance workers for the mechanism.

What observatories are you referring to?

The only depictions of planetary bodies visible in-game that I can recall are all in Azerothian Titan facilities. (Most notably Ulduar, and the Halls of Lightning) As the Titans are space-faring, and even set up Orbital Defenses around Azeroth it would make sense that they mapped Azeroth’s Solar system and in their Orbital displays show the different major planetoids in the system.

I don’t recall anything of the sort existing for Argus’ system, Draenor, nor Outland.

Please do tell…how big is azorath Solar System

Let me get back with those .Wintergaurd keep and firewing point.

We don’t know.

However, we can make some guesses based off of observed in-game data.

We know that Azeroth’s Sun is a Yellow-White Star, likely very similar to Sol considering that Humans effectively evolved on Azeroth. If so, it could be as large as 60,000 AU in diameter give or take a few million miles. (Again, Space is big. Like Really big.)

Azeroth could be similar to Earth, and sit 1 AU from its Star; however Azeroth also has 2 moons in roughly the same orbit opposite each-other. This would result in incredible tidal and tectonic stress on Azeroth, and depending on the internal make-up of Azeroth and the moons’ cores could result in an extremely powerful magnetosphere, as well as significantly higher core and mantle temperatures.

So Azeroth could possibly have a higher base temperature than Earth while orbiting at a significantly greater distance than 1 AU from its Star due to internal thermodynamics thanks to the moons. (Similar to how there is liquid water on Europa caused by friction due to gravity stress/tidal flex caused by Jupiter.)

The one thing we do know for certain is that Azeroth is in a Solar orbit, and is not Orbiting a Jovian body. (Gas Giant.)

As far as other planetary bodies… we simply do not know. However, on the assumption that Azeroth’s Sun is similar to Sol there could be anywhere from just Azeroth (perhaps all other Solar-orbit bodies were cleared away by the Titans?) or hundreds of celestial bodies.

I have not taken time to truly study the night sky within WoW, so I cannot say if the Devs have hidden any evidence of other planets, consistent constellations, or anything of that nature. It’d be cool if they did, but I don’t know, and haven’t read anything that suggests anyone else has tried.

At least it used to be. Rumor is one of the planets got transmuted into a sword.
