2 expansions it has been skipped now. It’s dead.
Based on the dev responses, it sounds like it is on hiatus.
Which might be for the best. I personally wasn’t a big fan of the whole ‘colder-warmer’ minigame attached to it and I think it deserves a lot better.
Probably. Ion said it’s not an emphasis in dragonflight in an interview.

I hope they revive it at some point, but seems currently there is no plan for it to return. With us venturing deeper into Azeroth only seems fitting that we could use it to learn more lore about the world and the cultures in it, like the Haranir or artifacts left over by the Titans.
Why it stopped being updated is really a big mystery to me. It was that unpopular back in the day?
It was a fun activity with cool rewards and lore reads. They have so many cosmetics nowadays and Archaeology was a really good way to put some of those behind.
The answer to that is hidden in a long series of hints and clues scattered all over Azeroth. Find them!
