I have been primarily a fire mage this season as i picked up mage recently. I have a 95 Parse Avg in heroic and was wondering if arcane is really that much better and if you guys enjoy it more?
I’ve not liked Arcane ever since they touched its mastery going into Legion. Before that it was actually my main spec.
Ever since then they’ve been throwing CDs at it and seeing what sticks. It recently got cleaned up though, to its credit.
If you’re a HC raider you should probably learn all 3 specs though. I would definitely say its worth your time unless you’re looking to reroll class entirely.

I havent tried arcance since bc. Unless it changed, shadow priest is better. I always roll frost mage instead.

I don’t know about Sunfury, but I’ve recently tried Spellslinger Arcane on my belf mage, and it feels really satisfying to play despite practically playing itself.

Probably not worth it if you are a slow learner.
Blizzard seems to not like any mage spec but fire to be the best option for long and I am expecting blizzard to nerf it next season or for fire to outscale it with the higher ilvl even if they don’t nerf it.
but if you are quick to pick up new specs then there is no reason not to learn it if you care about pushing m+ or mythic raiding parsing.
I don’t play mage at all except for one world quest alt, but this expansion arcane has the prettiest rotation of any class in the game.
I switched back to fire when they made arcane missles proc dependent.

I do not want to discourage you from rolling a new character, but you are going to find arcane missiles ( the only spell that does real damage) is on a forever cooldown even with a bazillion haste.

arcane is the most op spec in pve
Arcane may seem very simple and straightforward at glance, but the amount of awareness you need with how many of your buffs are active to optimal Barrage usage is insane. So many conditionals!
I like that, but takes a while to get used to.
Yes. Of all the mage specs, it’s the most (imo) interesting. While all three specs are essentially fishing for procs, arcane has a lot of setup/mechanisms in it that make it interesting.
The only downside is that I feel Blizz doesn’t reward people enough for being able to learn and execute it well. And that is a damn crime.

Arcane became so technical and the proc dependent of Arcane Missiles destroyed the love I had for it. Went Frost and have enjoyed it so much. Fire was just to slow for me though it hits hard.
Arcane is really fun, should def try it.
I love ARCANE. Truly. I went Fire for the uptick in DPS, but I always felt like Arcane was the most thematically correct for Mages and enjoy all of the spell effects.
Maybe they are using cool down manager or something, because I am baking bread and making apple pies , between CDs of arcane missiles.

Arcane replaced fire in the meta and it isn’t because they do less damage. They are beasts on priority target damage
i think it’s arcane > fire spec. frost is just for pvp
