It seems really pointless to me. Hanging out in the city is THE quintessential wow activity. I feel like this is going to kill cities.
Also, what exactly are you actually going to do in your house once it is built? Stand in there alone? Who is going to visit your house after maybe coming to check it out once? I just don’t get it.
I’m honestly not trying to rain on anyone’s parade, I just don’t get the hype. I could be persuaded otherwise, but as of now, it just seems like a massive waste of devs’ hard work.
I hated Garrisons and at the end of the day, this is the same concept.

Player housing didn’t kill cities in any other MMORPG I’ve played with player housing. Nor will it here.
A house is never done being decorated. And we’ll have two.
We don’t suddenly get seven billion decos day one.
Fun fact: I’m still decorating my Strongholds in SWTOR 11 years later.
Garrisons are NOT player housing nor were they ever.

Garrisons were absolutely player housing. They were just half baked and didn’t offer much customization.

You could get everything you need into a garrison. Let me know how we can put an auctioneer, vendors, transmog vendor, profession trainers, etc into a player house.

They were places you could be attached to trade channel invite friends to to show off and can have an ah and never need to leave it. It was absolutely wow housing prototype.

Garrisons subsumed every function of the expansion hub, which was also much more narrow during WoD. I’ve not seen anything along the lines of full profession advancement, bank access, auction houses, great vault, work orders, the delver headquarters, pvp vendors, and timeways portals being built into housing.

I can take it or leave it. No Gilnean exteriors nor neighborhoods, so meh.

Other than customizing it, I have not seen one post about what it will actually provide to the game. It just seems like non-content.
I’ve asked it before, in this thread: what are you going to actually do in the house?
I get it will bring a whole slew of achievements for people to chase, and that it will look cool. But honestly it doesn’t feel like content to me.
Well they are moving forward with it regardless of folks hate it or not.
So it’s happening just don’t use it.
I hate shrimp. It’s utterly vile and disgusting to me - so I just do t eat it, nor do I make comments when i watch my niece devour it like someone will steal some off her plate.
All this and consider I’m not a big fan of housing in games either.

I’m in the same boat as you. I just don’t get it. But hey, I’m happy for everyone who is excited. And I’m not worried about the cities. They’ll be fine. That’s where all the stuff is.
