Is anyone else excited for Anduin?

Anduin at the end of the TWW campaign regained his connection with the Holy Light when he revived Khadgar at the Priory of the Sacred Flame. He now understands who he is, what he is fighting for, and what he believes in, as he tells to Thrall.

I am quite excited to see what Anduin will be doing in Midnight and what role he will play in the final war between Light and Shadow. There’s a lot of symbolism and foreshadowing going on with Anduin and the final war (also involving Prophet Velen who was Anduin’s mentor in Legion).

Does anyone else share this sentiment? I can’t get enough of Anduin!! :grinning:

um well no, but good for him. he’s a good kid… as long as he doesn’t use that stuff against my side. mass rezz is cheating imo, anduin.

saurfang liked him so i can’t hate him. also, you gotta have something going on to be able to MC your own faction (remember that from Pandaland? ha!)

edit: he’s always gonna be a "kid’ to me, i dont care that he looks ten years older than me now lol

Sure, he’s generally pretty good

I need more Anduin…my life. :smirk:

I’m excited to see him pick up the mantle of leadership again, whenever they get around to killing Turalyon so he doesn’t really have a choice.

Anduin kind of vanished from the story aftet launch. This trilogy seems to mostly be the Alleria and Xal’atath show. In Midnight it looks like Arator will be largely filling the same role Anduin did in WW.

He’ll probably still show up, but he probably won’t have that big of a role.

I mean, I am happy that his story is finally progressing from what it started in Legion, hopefully now he can finally being to act like a king after failing spectacularly at that in BFA.

I’ve always enjoyed Anduin as a character; sometimes there are things I wish they hadn’t done with him (like leaning him into the more warrior/pally side as a sign of him “becoming a man” instead of letting him stay a full-fledged priest), but overall I do really enjoy his story and am looking forward to seeing more of it.

Personally, I’d love to see Anduin, Faerin, and Wrathion have a plotline together. I think they’d have a really fun character trio dynamic. (And Faerin seemed so fascinated with the idea of being friends with a dragon! Anduin is the missing link there!)

Nope, nah uh, naw.

If you kill Turalyon just to give Anduin his throne back, what you’re doing is setting Anduin up as the next HMP to die.

Turalyon needs to step down while being very much still alive so Anduin isn’t next on the chopping block.

We’ve already had this arc in Cataclysm/MoP to an extent, in books and ingame. And then again, even more detailed, in Legion. At a certain point the storytelling of an insecure Anduin who’s not sure about his role in the world and then finding some strength, get’s really boring. I hope we’re finally done now.

Great, so now every character will bow before Andy and tell him how he is smarter, stronger, suffered more and is more magically gifted he is than everyone else. I have nothing against him per se, but every character treats him like he is better than everyone.

I’m not really excited about any of the notable npcs anymore. They once felt like giants in the lore but they have all been getting such a disservice in the way they have been written with the few exceptions.

BFA Jaina was cool. Legion Illidan was cool. BFA Saurfang was cool.

Thrall, Vol’jin, Sylvanas, Tyrande, Malfurion, The Dragon Aspects, Khad’gar, and the Kirin’Tor ruined.

Anduin going through some things was fine but I hope he has reached the turning point and has pulled himself back together.

As long as he keeps the stubble face

Of course he would. Turalyon is one of the most honorable people around. He isn’t going to make some power grab. He was just being a top guy by serving as regent.

As for Anduin, I hope they just go ahead and start calling him a paladin, like he so obviously is. Hey, who better to mentor him in that than Turalyon? Another priest turned paladin.

You know Anduin was a Priest for 90% of his existence, right? He had a sceptre/wand and did mind control in MoP which is a Priest ability. He’s also the Priest hero in Hearthstone.

He only started wielding a sword from BFA onward and it’s not any sword. It’s Shalamayne, his dad’s sword. Of course he’s gonna wield it, it contributes to his character development.

That doesn’t mean he’s now a Paladin. NPCs are not beholden to gameplay classes.

Moira, Dagran, and Magni came out fine thankfully.

I guess. After that he was pretty absent from the story.

I’m already fatigued with Alleria and Xal’atath. Their story hasn’t progressed. It’s just the same song and dance every time they show up. I don’t care about either of them anymore. Just annoyed.

And even in the BfA cinematic he casted a Holy Word: Salvation at the end. Just because people carry a sword and can use the light, doesn’t mean they’re automatically paladins.

Lore characters are not beholden to gameplay class restrictions.

Take Gul’dan as an example. He’s the quintessential Warlock, right?

Well, sure, but he also created the first generation Death Knights. He’s basically the OG Lich King.

So, what is Gul’dan? Warlock or Necromancer? In truth, it’s just Gul’dan.

So Anduin wields his father’s blade because it’s integral to his character development, as we see that a fragment or a wisp of his father’s memory lives on in the blade and helps him when he struggles. That doesn’t automatically mean he’s a Paladin.

“Paladins” in the context of human civilization are Light-wielding warriors trained by the Silver Hand. Anduin does not have a formal martial education and never trained with the Silver Hand.
