Is anyone actually opposed to a barbershop in classic?

Your reputation on your realm and the experiences you have will not change because you decide to change your hairstyle.

I just think it’s funny that people are so purist about no changes even though this change would literally have no impact on any aspect of the game besides your characters head.

Because people want the game to be a museum piece and to be as true to the original as possible. I personally wouldn’t mind it or balance changes but I also didnt play a lot of vanilla and I also didn’t fight to get the classic server (though I am playing the hell out of it now). It’s pretty rude to stroll in to something others helped make happen and now that they got it you want to change it.
It’s not about the changes or how minor, it’s the authenticity.

As long as there’s no weird anime hair added to the game alongside it, I would be fine with a barbershop in Classic. Whatever! (Specifically, the human male hairdos freak me out…)

I wouldn’t care if they had it as a character service outside the game you can pay for, I don’t want to see barber shops in game.

Don’t want it. Barbershop was added in wrath. Outta here!

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here for a moment and assume that, if barber shops were added, LFG probably wouldn’t follow. Regardless, that isn’t a risk I’d like to take. One change in the wrong direction is all it takes to delegitimize a museum piece, and make no mistake regarding Classic’s existence as one.

There was no good fight to bring Classic back. Blizzard redeveloped Classic in large part to protect its intellectual property.

I’ll pretty much agree with that there, but I’m not sure the “one change” thing … well, there’s more to it than that.

Barber shop? not worth it.

I think for a change, it has to impact something that’s truly deleterious to the game experience, like something that’s truly damaging.

The only example I can think of is non-raid instance grouping. It’s painful already and it’s only going to get worse, a lot worse. But … if you consider all the servers there are tons of people that want to do non-raid instances while leveling up.

So would would be a least-impactful way to bring them together?

Take the (non-raid) instances off the individual servers and make them shared. Allow players, in text chat exactly as it is now, to search for each other and form groups to run these instances. This idea proposes something exactly as it is now, just with a larger pool of available players. Again, this idea wouldn’t and shouldn’t apply to raid instances. Those should be server based.

That’s about the only change worth doing that I can see, that’s worth the risk. Certainly not a barber shop.

Dude barbershops would literally break the game because… because!

I think it’s funny how many people complain about no barber shop. Should have chose what you liked in the beginning…

Barber shops will not be coming to Classic anyways.

For you people that don’t know what Ion said earlier to PC Gamer last month here you go again:

Other than the fact it extremely devalues the importance of the character creation process. Your choice of how your character looks doesn’t matter if it can be changed on a whim.

That’s pretty much a key aspect why Classic was made, people enjoy having more meaning, and value, behind choices and rewards.

Barbershops are for carebears and Classic is a pvp game. If you don’t like the haircut you chose turn your helmet on.

Apathy is death.
(I hope that’s what you were going for)

I just think it’s funny that everyone seems to want Classic to be “Vanilla, except with MY changes”. The problem is that every player has a different set of changes that they want. I’ve seen at least 40 different “features that would not harm Classic at all!!!”

That is not the rule. The rule is not “unless it would harm Classic, it goes in.” Why do you think that is the rule?

Players have asked for Vanilla for years. In response, Blizzard offered Classic. Blizzard did NOT offer “a player-designed game that players agree is better than Classic”.

If you want that, start your own company. Blizzard is not offering.
