Is anyone actually intimidated by Iridikron?

I see people saying Iridikron is better then Zovaal, but all we saw him do was destroy some random earth constructs. His appearance looks intimidating enough, but thats not really saying much.

Something I want to see, or something similar, is the Aspects and an army they have assembled getting ready to launch an assault on the Incarnates and Primalists. They come up on the Incarnates lair and the only one staring them down is Iridikron, without effort he just lifts an entire mountain and chucks it at the army. He then fights all the Aspects, Wrathion, Sabellion, Ebyssian, and Khadgar by himself and just rolls them all.

I’m intimidated by him because he’s actually taking the mortal heroes and faction forces seriously. The last villain to recognize that the Horde and Alliance champions are a legitimate threat was Arthas, and we only beat him because of Tirion’s last ditch effort.

To be fair, he hasn’t really done anything yet, he and his lackeys have just been introduced… give em time to actually do something before ya start trying to judge.

Let’s see how intimidating YOU are right after waking up from a 20,000+ year nap…

“Better than Zovaal” just means “Not actively making the story worse by existing”.

Iridikron is forgettable and boring, just like Razsageth was. But the Jailer’s problem wasn’t just that he was bland (though he was) it was that they felt the need to tear down iconic characters like Arthas, Kel’thuzad, Sargeras etc. by saying they were all just pawns to this super stronk new bad guy who’s totes for real secretly responsible for everything ever.

To be honest, I kind of like how Zovaal was in the middle of everything. He dominated Anduin himself, imprisoned the Primus, went to Oribos himself, and also infiltrated the Sepulcher himself in person. Though, I hate that everything was supposedly part of his “master plan” I did like that he was involved. I hope Iridikron is in the action actually doing stuff.

Blizzard coming out and making Zovaal the by all end all mastermind of everything Warcraft related from War 3 onward was the dumbest move in the history of dumb story moves. As someone who has been in the lore since War 1, finding that out was just a big eye roll of stupid. The only thing that comes close to that is the entire arc of Sylvanus in BFA.

I’m ok with big bads that have their moment in the sun to wreak havoc before we murder hobo them back to reality. But don’t tell me they are the end all figure of everything… looks at Zovaal

Idk that I’ve been intimidated by any wow character but I can tell you I wasn’t interested in iridikron until he got his visage model.

All we really saw ‘Zovaal’ do at the start of the expansion was drop Baine like a turd and consistantly boast “PiTiFuL MoRtAlS yOu CaNnOt CoMprEhEnD OuR gOaLs!” – Which we literally didn’t know what were until just about the very end of the expansion … Which was all written, told & executed terribly.

Now …

As for Iridikron:

  • We know more of what his plans are at this point in time of the expansion than we did with ‘The Jailor.’
  • We know Iridikron’s ideals / goals / desires.
  • Touches note on older lore, without completely goring & twisting it in a grotesque / stretched out in an overly disrespectful manner.
  • And we know why he’s in a position of opposition / angered at the mortals.
  • He’s a dragon (Nuff’ said).

And as Poised said:

And as others have said:

:unamused: Along with undermining beloved characters & villianous factions, just so they can say:

Because when it comes down to it for the majority / most of the playerbase who enjoyed the lore up until that point – It just cheesed everyone off.

A basic murloc who led a pack of murlocs to overwhelm a garrison would be a better villain who’s more intimidating than ‘The Jailor / Zovaal’ because he was so bland & shallow as a character — So yes, Iridikron is much more intimidating. lol

I mean We have taken down an aspect empowered by an old god, years and years ago. I don’t know why we would be worried about this guy. He is essentially an elemental lord but we have also been killing them since the beginning of wow.

Nothing about him or his existence is at all threatening when placed against any other antagonist.

Sad thing is they jailer could have been an amazing bad guy to face but he was kind of a joke of a villian. I mean the story was way too focused around anduin/Sylvanas to give him any kind of gravitas. Not to mention why would he use Sylvanas as his right hand woman when he had literally the worst souls in the universe to draw upon.

He’s cool and all, but its hard to care for the lore when it is danuser still writing it.
Ffs he already took another dump on the titans because “hur dur cosmology”.

In order for Iridikron to actually be a memorable villian, he needs to survive this expansion. In fact, Blizzard needs to do more so villians survives the expansion they are introduced to actually make them memorable. Just look at Arthas, if he had died in Warcraft 3 he would not have been as well remembered.

As for raw power the jailer is superior to irid boy but but but… blizzard tried so hard to make him the dot that connects everything that in the end everyone just wanted to be done with him quickly and move on.

He could have been a great villain, he could have survived shadowlands and gone missing…

Like someone said the villains needs to survive their expansions and get developed as characters and not as raid bosses.

We can have a raid boss that do not necessarily needs to die.
And I think we expansions with a start and ending at launch, a complete story like ff and have patches with diverses stories like eso has. That could flesh out alot of forgotten characters both good and evil. Without having a full expansion around them.

Everyone expected ‘Somehow, Palatine returned’ to stay at the top spot forever, but the reveal of the full extent of Zovaal’s background was so stupid no one could see it coming…

Blizzard does have an issue these days of proper character development before they kill them off. The only villians who have managed to escape are characters like azshara but even she should have probably been the primary villain of her own expansion. Rather than relegated to a side villian in an expac with a war, 2 oldgod’s and a crazy war chief.

Well, that’s not entirely the case. The pre-Legion Tomb of Sargeras audiodrama established that AU Gul’dan basically stayed loyal to the Burning Legion despite having deduced that they’d betrayed his alternate self because he was terrified of the champions who’d defeated the Iron Horde and his Fel Horde on AU Draenor. He knew Azeroth’s protectors would still be gunning for him and decided that staying under the Legion’s protection was his only chance of survival by that point.

While it doesn’t really make him sympathetic (he’s still Gul’dan, after all), it is notable that rather than still being a fervent believer in his demon masters as he was during WoD, by the time of Legion, AU Gul’dan had figured out that he was just another expendable pawn to Kil’jaeden, but he was still stuck serving the demons because he had no other options left.

Not really. His visage looks like Voldermort and Dr. Doom had a baby. Proto-Drakes aren’t bosses. They’re something the boss rides on. They won’t change my mind on his, I’m sorry.

I do like his measured and calculated demeanor. I’d say its unlike what we’ve seen in a villain before, but ZoZo was a pretty measured and calculated fella.

I like the sibling dynamic we saw in the trailer. It automatically elevates him above Zoval. Iridikron (which is nearly as horrendous of a name as Razzmatazz), is their leader. Costco Off-brand Winter Queen is the academic and the stupid fire one is the stupid one.

I like his name. Something about ending with “-kron” makes it sound cool. The name alone is kind of intimidating. It would fit a giant flying threat. Just discussing the name “Iridikron” sounds like a giant radioactive flying evil form that everyone must flee from.

Zovaal is a lame name. It does not inspire anything. The “-vaal” sound is kind of soft. The Jailer is a good moniker, edgy enough, but it did not seem to fit. He was more like the most powerful guy in the jail than the actual jailer.

I have to disagree with Shakespeare, as much as I love his work. There is alot to a name, especially when it comes to marketing and selling a narrative. Just from the name, Iridikron is better.

I think Iridikron has potential, though saying he’s better than the Jailer is like saying “buttered toast is better than moldy bread soaked in snot.” The sibling dynamic with the others and clearly being a good planner is already head and shoulders above the others.

Iridikron has potential, though I’m not sure if he or Vyranoth is the brains behind the operation (Fyrakk seems a bit too impulsive and uncreative to be the leader).

Side note: Given his current path with the Titans, I wonder if Danuser will continue Afrasiabi’s trend of taking dumps on the Light. I do hope Danuser pulls back from that path.

Who cares if he takes is seriously. He can still be a stooge
