I noticed something today when taking an alt through the maw.
You know when you see other players and the NPCs with them are given generic names in order to keep the “immersion?”
Well when I was at the part where Jaina, Anduin, Baine, and Thrall were following me, I saw another player.
That player had a Kirin Tor mage, 2 warriors, and a… Paladin following him.
What’s up with that? Isn’t Anduin a Priest, like the devs keep on insisting? Why say he’s a priest and have him act like a pally? Don’t we already have enough human male paladins?

A paladin is just a priest with melee gear. Fun fact, every paladin becomes a priest when they shower.

Anduin became a paladin the moment he Started using his fathers sword.

Yes, except Anduin is portrayed as just one class: Paladin.

I’ve never seen him use paladin powers, only priest healing.
Unless he does later in SL, I haven’t hit 60 yet.

Lore characters really don’t follow our class logic. I mean do you think Genn is a monk, just because he is always shown attacking with his claws and not weapons?

Yes, many classes can heal.
But again, I’ve never seen him use any paladin like skills.

He fights in combat and wields the light and wears plate armor. That’s pretty much a paladin.
What priest like skills does he have? He used to act like a priest in MoP, he would mind control mobs and penance them. But now all he does is fight in melee and have depressing monologues. 100% a paladin.

Hes too uncool to be a paladin. He doesnt have the balls for it. Hes a priest who wears plate because hes scared he might get a scratch.

Priests don’t wear Plate. Therefore, Anduin is a Pally

He was trained in both combat and the light since a child. He wears plate armor and uses a 2nd sword in combat. He has a deep and intimate connection to the light far beyond what others have.
Clearly he is a holy shaman.

Yeah, that was MoP though. Someone at Blizz clearly wants him to be a paladin, plus to the Horde he is labeled as a “Stormwind Paladin”.
Why does Blizz hate priests? First Anduin, now Tyrande.

Really? His generic setting is paladin? That’s a bummer.
I like to think of him as a priest. We need a character active in the lore who is mostly a priest, we have SO many pallies like you said.
Anduin’s class is “King Anduin”
as an NPC, especially an important NPC what with him being a faction leader, he does not follow the strict rules of classes. Anduin is a “priest” but he also runs around with in plate armor with a 2 handed sword like a paladin.
just like Vol’jin is a Shadow Hunter and thrall is a Shamanistic Warrior, or how Tyrande was a High Priestess of the Moon that class changed into the Night Warrior. none of those classes are readily available to us as they are to NPCs since they pick and choose which abilities from the different classes they want.
