Is Altoholic addon working?

I keep getting just a blank panel when I launch Altoholic since the DF pre-patches, even though I’ve kept the software updated. Am I missing something?

Any tip to get this addon working again would be much appreciated.

i had to reset the data in mine to get it to work, but it’s been fine since

Most addons are broken.

How did you “reset the data”? I’ve clicked the Reset button on the Altoholic panel a few times but nothing seems to happen.

Just reinstall it.

Altoholic has been working fine for a few days now.

Mine’s working fine, never did anything but update it.

if it doesnt clear after you reset it, delete the addon entirely and reinstall

There’s two of them.

One’s by Thaoky, who’s keeping it current (though it’s been broken since Tuesday)

And one by Teelo, which has been broken since the first half of pre-patch, and hasn’t been updated since early Shadowlands.

Make sure yours is Thaoky, I think he’s still working on getting it updated.

Reset in game is not enough sometimes, and reinstalling the addon isn’t clearing the saved data.

If it isn’t showing anything you likely need to clear its saved data which is in the WTF folder (WoW\retail\WTF\Account\YourAccountName\SavedVariables) and delete any altoholic or datastore ones (basically same location & steps as is noted on the top of the mod page for when this was needed to be done for older versions going to a newer version awhile ago)

It’s been working for me since at least yesterdays update, but as noted above I had to do the saved variable clear before it did

I had to manually update mine in the curse app, it was stuck at 9.5, not sure why it couldn’t update to 10.0 automatically. After that it’s been working fine.

I’m having the same problem, OP. Thanks for posting this, maybe someone here will have a fix.

Manually updating it by going to curse and downloading it resolved the issue I was seeing

Thanks everyone for all your responses. Apparently I had the wrong Altoholic (even though it’s always worked for me up until the DF pre-patches). I deleted that one using the CurseForge addon manager client, then searched for and installed the 2 Thaoky versions, one just titled “Altoholic” and the other “Altoholic Count Hider”. Logged my bank toon in, made sure the two addons were on, and saw that it’s now working properly. Fantastic! This is one of the best addons I’ve ever used, and I’m glad and grateful to the author who’s continued to support it.

Hoping all this is helping others who had the same problem. Great gaming everyone!

Missing her (MoveEverything).

No it hasnt worked for about a year. I have deleted, reinstalled, and finally just chosen to ignore. BUT TODAY something wierd: I have a long one line list of boxes that are + or - , these can be clicked on to change them from - to + but show no extra info either way, and these disappear off the bottom of my screen way past the actual graphic of the Altoholic screen. Also the right clicking on a deleted char does not work to remove it

This is a long necro, but Altoholic was updated last month, if your updated to the newest version and it isn’t working for you, then I would clear saved variables as mentioned above in my post last year.

Otherwise a good alternative is Armory (https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/armory) which does all altoholic does, is updated frequently and personally works a bit better.

Thank you so much for this! I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled the mod and also deleted the files in the WTF folder, and still all the pieces of Altoholic are grayed out in my addon list in-game. It and DataStore have been wonky for a long time, and I’ve finally lost my patience with the error messages and crap. Armory seems to do everything I need it to do, so I’m done with all that other stuff.

Welcome, kind of came to the same conclusion myself a while ago, also tired of not infrequent issues with Altoholic and/or DataStore it requires, when I found Armory I loved it and have used it since with no issues unlike the former.

For me it is just a much cleaner interface, simple to use and doesn’t have issues that need workarounds like clearing saved variables to fix.

All I wanted to do was to get rid of all of the error pop-ups, especially the ones that occurred on mouse-over. Irritating. And now, I have the boxes checked, but there’s some sort of dependency missing thing and I can’t tell what’s missing because it’s all on one line, the beginning of which is off of the screen.

That being said, is there any reason I need to keep DataStore now that I’ve eliminated Altoholic?

If you did want to keep using Altoholic, the missing one is probably AddonFactory which is easily missed since it is a completely separate name that doesn’t include Altoholic or Datastore anywhere:

But if your happy with Armory then no, there is no reason to keep Datastore if not using Altoholic.
