Is all flight in Dragonflight switching to dragonflying?

  1. Will we be able to use our current flying mounts in Dragonflight the same way we always fly around? (up down left right etc…)

  2. Will Dragonflight’s new zones be restricted to the new dragonflying mechanics for all flying mounts?

  3. If the new zones are dragon-restricted for flight, will we be able to use use our current dragons or drake mounts to fly around in? Or will we have to use a new one from scratch specific to the expansion?

Dragon Riding is exclusively for Dragon Isles.
Dragon Riding is the only form of flight while in the Dragon Isles.
Only specific mounts are useable for Dragon Riding.
All existing mounts will not be able to fly in the Dragon Isles. But you can use them as ground mounts.
Outside of the Dragon Isles, it’s business as usual.

Not initially but they plan to add it later in the expansion. At launch you will only be able to use your dragon flight dragon with the new mechanics in the new zones

Same as above

Same as above.

Ok, thanks for the updates.

Couple more questions:

  1. Will stuff like the Net-o-matic work on dragon-flying mounted players?

  2. Will we be able to hover-in place on the new dragon mounts (like if we want to go make a sandwhich or AFK)? Or will we be constantly moving and have to actively maintain flying to stay in the air?

Are we gonna have a nice lull in the start where only ground mounts can be used? I really prefer using them when we can. IE, my infernal from Gul’Dan.

Good questions! I have the same. Hoping to hover. Apparently, you can get 950% mount speed on a dragon. How does that work?

Also, if I suck at Dragonflying, will I fall to my death?

1: no clue
2: no hovering, but you can go more than twice as fast.

I will be able to glide, just saying. I can do this in demon form too !

How does landing work? Can we literally land on a dime and instantly stop? Or is it like landing an plane, where we gotta slow down and need a runway type of length to touch down on? And if we overshoot a ledge, will we instantly be back to gliding or will we just fall to our death? lol

From what I’ve seen, you loose momentum when you hit the ground.

I can probably update this when the raid testing invite wave goes out

If this turns out to be cool, I hope they add something like mounted flying jousting to the mechanics for PvE and PvP. Not just “click a button to shoot stuff” vehicle like they have now, but actual action-aerial combat with collision mechanics.

But, I’m getting ahead of myself.

No word on combat, but there are plans for dragonriding races (and some might be already out on alpha)

I really hope they do let people use Dragon Mounts they already have. I Already have a few Dragon mounts that I would love to still be able to use even with the Dragon Flight mechanics. Such as Bronze Drake, Heart of the Aspects, Iron Sky Reaver, Thundering Jade Cloud Serpent, and of course Sandstone Drake. Tho I do have the Tangled Dreamweaver from getting the Dragon Flight Xpac I would still love to be able to use the other Dragons to fly with still.

OP I love your name. It’s clever and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody else use it.

The ones I want to see usable for dragon riding are the OG player ridable dragons, Netherdrakes. Earning it back in the day was cool but I haven’t had a whole lot of reason to pull mine out in the years since.

What an original idea we do quest to get a dragon mount and use it to fly around the content. Oh wait it’s just a rehashed idea from mop wow blizzard can’t you do something original instead of reskinned crap

Holy Crap! I am glad I did not buy this poorly designed system so Ion now controls the flying. If they leave it that way a lot of people will be leaving the game. If they do not add regular mounts its not going to end well. People will tire of the flying mechanics as time goes by. I already see them complaining about it now for gathering.
