Just hit level 10 and got my scorpion pet but it doesn’t have pet, I read up online said you teach it taunt but I don’t see the skill even when I went to the pet trainer. It at level 10.
When you get the taming quest at level 10, you would get “Beast Training” ability. Click that it will open up the Beast skills your Hunter knows. You would see Rank 1 and Rank 2 Growl. Teach your pet Growl.
After this, there would be 2 trainers you would visit regularly… the Hunter Trainer and the Pet Trainer. The Pet Trainer will teach you Natural Armor rank 1, 2, 3 , etc as well as Stamina rank 1, 2 ,3 ,etc. Once your Hunter learn them, open your “Beast Training” ability and teach those to your pet.
Pet abilities like Dive, Charge, Dash, Furious Howl… you would learn them from the Beasts from the Wild. Just tame them and use the pet until you learn its skills. Then you could teach these skills to your favorite pet that is capable to do such skill.
For example, my favorite pet is an Owl. But he has no Dive skill. I could tame a Buzzard from Arathi Highlands which has Dive skill. After using the Buzzard for some time, I would learn the Dive skill. Then I could abandon the Buzzard, and summon my Owl pet. Open up “Beast Training” Ability and teach my Owl the Dive Skill.
BTW, there is a Hunter Ability called “Beast Lore” at level 24 I think. This ability would allow you to see what skill the Beast has when you target them. I was complaining this morning that Beast Lore is missing. I didnt know it is available only at level 24. Ouch on me. LOL.
Definitely buy a stable slot ASAP so that you can tame temp pets to learn skills from and keep your main pet.
This. if you started as night elf, grab a spider for bite rank 2 and growl, and a owl for claw rank 2 to teach a cat
good starter pet for a while, then grab a stable slot and keep learning stuff for your main pet
Since you said scorpion, you’re probly orc, but i’ll leave this up for others
IIRC Beast Lore also exists in BFA. How that ability has not been pruned yet stuff like Distracting Shot still exists is beyond me.
To the OP: Remember that Growl is not a “taunt” in Classic; it’s just a large threat increase.
