Is 9.2 on background downloader?

I know about the setting on the launcher that background downloads things automatically, but I had turned that off to help with my latency. Just now when I realized I hadn’t installed any of 9.2, I went to adjust those settings to enable a background download and re-start the launcher, but it wasn’t acknowledging that it had anything on tap.

How did you guys go about installing it? Did you use the launcher or is there another source I’m not thinking of? I’d like to be able to leave my computer on to do it when I’m not playing.

I’d like to know this too. Normally it would have been available by now but I see nothing.

I also have nothing for background updates. I don’t think they have pushed it through yet, which going off of the usual trend, it seems odd.

Huh, you’re right. Usually it’s doing something by now. Maybe tomorrow?

you can set it to pause updates when you launch a game

Maybe we have to look on the Microsoft Store now. LOL just kidding.

Here it is. Working on mine: Underneath blue “Play” button!

You mean my computer is possessed. Is that why the rw/wd is still moving? Please ,tell me it isn’t so.

I have had tons of PTR updates recently. Also just got one for Hearthstone earlier today.

Not talking about PTR. This is for the release on Tuesday.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind if WoW updates started being handled by the MS Store. It’s more lightweight than the chonker the Battle.net launcher has become and updates things in the background without a tray item or anything.

Kinda miss the game itself being able to fetch patch installers. I didn’t use the launcher at all until it started becoming required for updates, some time around Cata or MoP.

Well, if they’re already getting PTR updates, then there’s nothing much else to download. The PTR update is the 9.2 update. It just won’t get copied over until actual release day.

No, it’s not. PTR is separate from the retail channel. We have always gotten a background download for new patches before and way before where we are now in regards to release. Not everybody takes part in the PTR. I never do.

Yep, I know, just pointing it out. Who knows, Blizz might pull some switch to use it? Unlikely though.

PTR and retail data are heavily shared.

Which explains why you don’t understand that downloads/storage are heavily shared between PTR and Retail.

Also you can jump over to the Download Manager and it’s sitting in there.

If you don’t have it, you likely already downloaded it in the background.

Mine downloaded already. :woman_shrugging:t4:

Because they aren’t. They are completely separate.

Yep, I guarantee yours downloaded in the background. Size of download is around 300MB.

Wrong.

Why don’t you see for yourself and install PTR? Tell me all about the not-80gb download once you do.
