I mainly play WoW these days, Should I just wait for 3070? currently using 1080ti but it’s showing it’s age(for other games.) and with Raytracing being a thing I kinda just wanna grab a better GPU anyway.
could someone provide us some good information about 3070 on 4k and for WoW at 1440p.
So basically when it come to you 3070 or 3080?
I personally would not get one over a 1080ti JUST for WoW.
If you played other games, then yes.
A 2080ti can power the game at 4k 60fps with RTX features on, so it’s likely the 3070 will do it a bit better.
However, others have shown the difference with it on, and its only very subtle in implementation.
WoW also does not support DLSS, which is a critical part of making RTX features more “usable”.
So basically, the Ray Tracing in WoW is just proof of concept and not really meant to be used.
I’d ask what your CPU is - it’s likely you’ll gain more “bottom end” performance by upgrading that if its something slow like 1st and 2nd gen Ryzen.
For only wow yes it barely puts a load on my 3080. RTX in PTR isn’t even implemented properly you can barely tell the difference I don’t even think its on in a lot of places.
A 3080 will handle it fairly well wow isn’t going over the top with RTX.
Yeah but…for what? It’s a really minimal visual gain. It won’t WoW you. I get it if you want it, but in my own quest for a GPU I have not considered that a meaningful factor for WoW.
Also, kinda hate you since I’ve been trying to get a 3080 for weeks.
There really isn’t a difference at this point IMO its there for future content just as they did with DX12.
Exactly and for that purpose it’s probably better to wait for the feature to be more worthwhile to use in consideration for purchasing a GPU today.
Which is why I asked about CPU - it might be a better uplift.
Next upgrade is Zen3 for this game I anticipate it will a much better boost than GPU.
JUST for WoW? Completely overkill. Probably only justifiable if you were planning on running at 4k resolutions, but even then you wouldn’t really need that much juice.
iirc its only shadows…and yeah itsn to very noticible.
a 2080 was overkill for WoW.
a better card is never going to be able to utilize the cost/performance to justify it.
Wait for the 3070 or the Radeon 6800. 3080/3090/6900 looks like they’re overkill for WoW unless you’re going past 4K resolution.
