Ironically, 9.1 is actually one of the best major patches blizzard has put out

I can give a very detailed explanation as to why that it but since I know 99% of people won’t read it I will just give a TLDR…

1.) Korthia zone actually feels rewarding and story wise makes sense and does not feel like a random new zone added.

2.) Sanctum of Domination is actually one of the best raids blizzard has put out look, design, and lore wise, out shining every raid they have put out in the past.

3.) New/Tweaked PvP talents for every class that actually make you want to turn on warmode to try them out yourself even though you hate PvP.

4.) New mega dungeon again out shines any dungeon blizzard has put out in the past design, look, and story wise and the little quest chain to actually unlock the flight path to the dungeon was a VERY neat touch.

5.) Overall theme of the new armor matches each class perfectly (this can be subjective here but I have not heard any complaints about any armor set). The new cosmetic back pieces & covenant armor sets were a very nice touch as well and makes it seem like you didn’t just forget about your covenant you chose just because the story is progressing forward.

6.) Torghast changes make the whole experience feel better in terms of actually wanting to do it and filling out your mini talent tree for it.

7.) A whole new row of soulbinds to further tweak your playstyle.

8.) TONS and I mean TONS of new easter eggs and attention to detail almost everywhere.

There are many more reasons but these six definitely play a huge role as to why 9.1 is the best major patch blizzard has put out to date. Lots of people just jump the bandwagon because a popular wow streamers jumps to another MMO and clowns WoW.

While I do think “timegating” is a very stupid design especially in previous WoW expansions… It kind of makes sense for this expansion given the main characters in the campaign.

This is the truth… Think anything you want about the patch but overall it is one of the best major patches blizzard has put out.

It actually really isn’t, at least if you care at all about the health of the game.

It’s largely a seasonal refresh pass, with the most insanely boring “hub” zone to date. As with all seasonal style patches, the millisecond 9.2 hits literally everything is irrelevant.

That’s how you make a update in a F2P Diablo clone, not an MMO. The major problem with the game right now revolves around them doing this for about 5 years straight now.

I know people just wanna be happy, but ima be honest, even taken on its own merits this is a pretty shoddy patch. The new M+ affix is awful, the new zone is ugly and boring, there’s bugs on everything, it’s just tedious to try and exist in this bland, awful game world.

Absolutely not

Nope

With my negativity out of the way, I’m enjoying 9.1. It’s still super alt unfriendly and I’ll probably be taking another break after I finish the content I want to do, but it’s not a bad patch.

I don’t really care what they add to torghast, don’t wanna do it. It’s forcing you to grind for your leg go while time gating you at it too…

It says a lot that the most universally liked part of the story in this patch is a 51 second in game cutscene that was made by a single employee and was then vastly improved with editing by an amateur fan in a single week after it was publicly released.

Come on guys.

Korthia is very small and it looks way too much like another cookie cutter argus/nazjatar copy paste bland rocky cliffs zone, but its way way smaller than either Argus or Nazjatar.

No meta achievements. Megadungeon is fun but extremely bugged and encourages players to abandon convential group play and just cheese multiple bosses with 4 dps and hero/lust burst.

The story is a completely disjointed and confusing mess, even for people that enjoy diving into lore and theorizing about it.

Sylvanas… well I think we all have heard enough about her recently I won’t even get into that steaming pile.

Definitely not one of the best major patches and I feel very justified saying that.

oh and then there’s torghast… ya. Torghast… yaaaa.

The fact that they changed it to a rated, go go go style mode with unclear rating thresholds required to meet to unlock the next layer makes this point objectively incorrect.

Subjectively, it feels like m+ which I don’t do because I think it’s a trash game mode. And now I want to do Torghast less than I did before because it’s effectively a single player clone of m+ now.

  • Korthia is more or less just another timeless isles reskin. It’s nice for getting some basic gear for alts but losses it’s fun after you visit it a few times. You are just killing the same rares and few packs of monsters every day over and over.

  • Not too interested in raiding atm, maybe I will give it a shot later. Nearly every raid from Blizzard has been pretty great.

  • I agree with you on the PvP talent changes and new stuff, only issue is that is not helping PvP as the gear and other problems are making people drop it.

  • More dungeons are nice, this is just like what they did with Mechagon.

  • The “New armor” was a reskin of the legendary gear we have, just the full set and recolored. It has been in the game before SL was released. Not that it’s a huge issue, it does look nice. I still think they should have released it as transmog you can unlock in torghast back in 9.0 or 9.5.

  • Sure, but I would rather soulbinds not be a thing, this just makes the reason for me trying out different covenants less likely to happen as my bro Pelagos is awesome.

  • Ehh, if you say so.

I would say it’s an ok patch but had no reason to take this long and it won’t keep me interested for long as it’s just more of the same if you don’t raid. The only reason I came back for it was friends, not the patch itself.

I think 8.2 was better. It was a BfA patch ironically enough, but it was probably the biggest content patch in the game’s history.

Did Blizzard pay you Aizen to use your Kyoka Suigetsu on us in an attempt to trick all 5 senses into believing 9.1 is actually good!!

I’m not sure how much someone likes something can be “objectively incorrect.”

how can you possibly tell them they are wrong in like torghast more?

This thread amuses me.

So much this. I have watched that reforged cutscene more than a few times.

Subjective, did it 2-3 times, haven’t touched since.

Yes, great raid.

Yeah, I like the pvp currently. Gear issue sucks on alts though. (or new players)

Yeah it’s a nice dungeon.

They’re nice. Half the datamined weapon transmogs missing though.

Yeah it’s decent.

Lame. Soulbinds are dog system for anyone with more than 1 spec.

Basically from all that, raid is nice, new dungeon is nice, armor transmogs are nice, Torghast is decent, other than that, nothing else. Not something that’ll hold people’s interest for 6-8 months to next patch.
You missed a lot of negatives though, like removing valor upgrades for alts and such.

I hope this clears things up.

Or… wait till SL hits the chromie time shelf in it’s completed stage and get the full 12 hours of content all at once cutting out all of the filler bs to stretch those 12 hours over 2 years.

It has tons of bugs, including a perma-disconnect bug which you have to use the support unstuck tool for, terrain bugs where you can fall through, massive lag in Korthia when the world boss is active.

It’s clear this patch wasn’t meant to come out until August like the leaks originally suggested.

ironically, people are either hypocrits and clueless or both, this is the biggest .1 patch added to the game and you still hear whining because it feels too small for some

name me one gaming company that don’t release a game that have bugs in it, yes its not perfect, yes companies should be taking more time before releasing their products but they do it because people still buy their games

like would i buy a car with 3 wheels and wait 3-4 weeks before the company send me the last wheel

I disagree, largely. It’s a very formulaic, it’s another attempt at recreating Timeless Isle. The story is what it is, Korthia seems like it’s okay but nothing spectacular or particularly engaging. Sounds like the raid, the dungeon, and the PvP talents are good which is great to hear.

I’d argue there are far better patches out there, 5.2 is the first to come to mind for a host of reasons.
