How many stacks of Ironfur should I maintain in a pull of 3 to 5 mobs and a pull of 5 to 8 mobs? I know it all depends. It depends on the mobs’ skills, it depends on the mobs themselves to be honest. But for someone like me who is starting out and has no idea what the mobs do and doesn’t have the patience to look into each mob, how many stacks would you normally maintain? I always keep 2 and have been doing fine; I can maintain up to 3 or 4, but I prefer to use Raze for damage. I don’t know when this will become punitive. I’m able to tank +8 and +9 keystones, but I haven’t tried a +10 keystone yet.
Im just practicing my bear cuz’ The War Within, nothing more.
I think the recommended is upkeep 2 for normal and light physical damage and 3-5 for heavy/physical tank busters. Tank busters are usually telegraphed pretty hard so you can see them comming and if youre doing huge pulls lean into heavier ironfur usage unless you can see its mostly casters or youve coordinated other defensives.
Then weave in things like barkskin or survival instincts to cover pulls where you dont have the rage starting a pack to have 2 ironfurs up and you know theirs some magic damage.
And to be honest Im not looking to learn what each skill of every mob does because the expansion is already ending. I’m just trying to improve my survivability, and I know it will get better as I learn more about the mobs. So, I might be being a bit contradictory, and what I’m saying might not make sense, but there must be some rule of thumb about ironfur stacks in general so that I can focus on other things like cooldown management, building muscle memory, and so on.
