Ion on Shadowland Loot

Blizzard is so far out of touch with their player base.

Also this was clearly a puff piece.
Here is an excerpt of the article

“Blizzard has done a great job making each of WoW’s different pursuits, like raiding, PVP, and dungeons, feel rewarding and fun. Players seem to be having a great time with it so far.”

Yep, thats SL
 rewarding and fun.

Same here.

The bullshi*t he’s peddling here is astounding.

Replace the Game Director for WOW. Two trash expansions in a row.

i was amazed at how one dimensional the article was

there is nothing wrong with an industry journal touting a company’s success but to simply ignore blatant failings is an epic fail

Nothing will be changed for months, probably after 9.1 releases. So short term, the issues still persist. Its nice he acknowledges the problem but I dont think they have any concrete solutions right now they are going to consider.

I wouldn’t be opposed to Valor Points
but I just feel the Vault already serves that purpose. Adding another weekly chore to do is also
 very exhausting to think about.

Because you know they will make it so you need to do Heroic Dungeons or LFR to Valor Cap and not make it be able to be earned in M+ or Raid.

It didn’t work in the past though. It encouraged spamming the easiest/fastest dungeon ad-nauseum, and allowed you to target BiS pieces early.

If the best way to do something is also the least enjoyable, that’s bad game design.

Kinda like every decision they made in this expansion?

Everything except pvp gearing is the least enjoyable its ever been.

Has there ever been a formal petition to have Ion removed as the game developer?

They would never allow it. The millions of votes would be overwhelming.

Queues into Heroic “Dark Heart of Pandaria” Scenario for the 5th time in a row

There was a petition I think, would need million + sigs to even be heard.

posts like this are beyond irresponsible

like we’ve seen evidence that ion thinks, c’mon

Ion is fine as a game developer.

He just doesn’t need to be the lead developer. Ion is a numbers guy, and the game needs numbers guys. But the lead developer of an RPG should always be a story guy above all else.

We currently are lead by a guy who was a lawyer and got hired for his bad math about a raid in Vanilla
spent several years as a raid designer and was thrust into lead dev. He has no idea anything that happens in wow outside of his raiding life.

He reports to the President
Mr. “You think you do, but you don’t.” Almost completely unfathomable, but someone who is actually more out of touch with their customer community than the lawyer turned developer.

Legion wasn’t a success
 it was a fluke.

When he tried to take away our flying immediately after being promoted to Lead after the launch of WoD.

Leave ion alone

As someone who’s friends refuse and have refused every expansion to do pvp, Ranked is out of my reach. (Despite my wanting to do it) I haven’t ever tried out of fear I wasn’t good enough, though I have been doing BG’s since WoD.

I wish I could get the same gear, the same exact gear but it would just take me longer to get it. Thats fine. But locking it ENTIRLY off is horrible.

The article is a joke. They think we are happy getting less loot. What!

You never lost stats on a reforge. So for me, if I had a piece that was:

50 crit
50 mastery

I could change it to
50 crit
30 mastery
20 haste

Which is absolutely an improvement. You never lost stats on reforge, you just shuffled them around. It still wasn’t as good as having the full value of your best (or 2nd best if it already had your best) stat on the piece, but it could make up a bit for issues where, say, there were 0 haste cloth boots in a raid.
