What’s wrong with PvP gear being locked behind rating?
Seems the content in the article is much like the loot in Shadowlands. Sparse.
My read on this is they accept dungeons don’t feel rewarding when you don’t get the item you wanted… ok? They feel they can do more for this?
Nothing else said there. It’s a pretty weak article really.
??? lol wat

Just go back to Ghostcrawler’s design, he’ll always be the better designer than you Ion.
Then do the content, and run for the gear that works for you then. This isn’t random drop science. You can open your dungeon journal and see everything that drops for your class. You want haste gear? Run that dungeon, kill that boss and farm those drops. No one is keeping you from having high haste. If you want it, get it.
But the PvP upgrade system is actually great.
What spreadsheets are you talking about? A tank looking for versatility on gear has nothing to do with spreadsheets. Getting crit gear constantly isn’t good.
I do the content dude
but blizzard’s godly design dictates some gear has crit instead of haste
I don’t want to do dungeons for pvp gear
casuals that just want to do bgs should be able to get good gear too
could you give me the reasons why it’s better then wods scaling?
I mean, I love WoD scaling as well. They’re both great systems.
BGs have entry level PvP gear, if you want better do ranked. Makes sense to me.
In other words ,they’re not going to changed at all.
And why are they looking for it? Because players have min/maxed everything saying “X stat is best”. The design behind it is Blizzard believes every stat should be desirable for all classes. They don’t see it as “Man we need to design this class with solely this stat in mind.” It’s a player issue. To Blizzard, crit is good for everyone. So they put it on gear. It has everything to do with spreadsheets. If people didn’t say “It’s the best!” players wouldn’t blindly follow like lost lambs and cry they can’t have everything that is considered “the best”. They’d just play the game.
Then this is a you problem. As stated in my previous post, Blizzard’s design is all stats are good for all classes. So they design gear with that in mind. Not their problem your “idea” against their “design” is the flaw.
For those that don’t want to go the site:
Ion Hazzikostas, game director: One of the most ambitious and exciting aspects of Shadowlands is its setting, as the team expanded the Warcraft universe to define the contours of an all-new plane of existence. As we look ahead to 2021, we’re thrilled to be able to build further on those foundations to tell epic stories that interconnect the different powers of the Shadowlands, heroes and villains of Azeroth, and the inner workings of Death itself. This year will see players delve deeper into the mysteries of the Shadowlands, including settings even more fantastical than what we’ve seen so far. I can’t say too much more without getting into heavy spoiler territory, but an incredible journey lies ahead as players work to thwart the plans of the mysterious Jailer.
Now that Shadowlands is out, are there any big pieces of feedback that you’re working to address?
We’re humbled by players’ response to Shadowlands, but we know that launching an expansion isn’t an end for us, but rather a new beginning. The team is listening closely to the community as we look to shape future updates. One big topic of discussion has been the way loot works in the Shadowlands endgame: We significantly reduced the rate at which players earn item rewards, but at the same time also stripped away randomness and tried to give everyone more clear goals to pursue and control over their progress towards them. When it comes to PvP itemization specifically, we’re really happy with how that’s playing out, but we think we can do more to make the experience of running dungeons and raids feel more satisfying when you don’t get a specific item you were hoping for. Otherwise, balance remains an ongoing focus, both through “hotfix” adjustments to the live game and through more involved changes to player abilities, and especially new Shadowlands systems like legendary items and covenants, which will come in patches.
When is WoW 2 coming, though?
Look, I get it. WoW 2 would be amazing. But, according to Blizzard, Shadowlands launch was an enormous hit. It sold 3.7 million copies on its first day. Why make the sequel when so many people are still happy as clams grinding away in the original?
If it’s so great why are so many complaining, leaving and just plain unhappy?
No patch inc till spring 2121.
Also I want a pair of those rose colored glasses Ion and the team are wearing.
Can we talk about how Honor Gear and Conquest gear have different stats tho? That’s weird right? Right?
that’s true but the gear isn’t up to par with other gear, I mean M+ dungeon gear should be viable in pvp but even honor should be better
no, it’s 100% a blizzard problem
Blizzard’s design is not “all stats are good for all classes” if it was then you’d want all the stats
but it isn’t so you get crit
That was an odd “interview”. It was two generic questions. Most of it was an opinion piece.
Still, I appreciate the link.
only 2 answers and the second one is vague at best.
kinda weird.
And where are you getting this notion that crit is absolutely useless? It’s in your head. It’s a you problem. Crit benefits you by making you deal more damage. Therefore by design, it is good for you. Just as haste makes you hit faster and reduces globals. Again, good for you. Mastery increases the unique mastery skill for your spec. Again, good for you. Vers? Increased damage and reduced damage taken. So by design this means they are good for you. Again, a you problem. Just because you don’t weigh them in the same respect as Blizzard doesn’t mean you get to tell the creator he’s wrong.
Blizzard is always happy with what they do and how things are going. Then 2 years later admit that what they did was really bad. So it’s just PR speech for ‘‘Not gonna say it’s bad and throw myself or others under the bus’’.
Or they are looking at some statistics, ignoring the human aspect of feed back and thinking, ‘‘But they are getting X thing at this amount of time invested, that equates to fun’’.
They swung it too far. It was rare to get good pieces when we had WF TF, how does reducing reward/loot counter that. One has nothing to do with the other. You don’t make the mouse travel much further for that 1 piece of cheese when you make the maze easier… you feed it bits of cheese to keep the mouse interested.
What they did is just went full stop ‘‘Let loot be loot?.. fine you get 35 anima and be happy, now we pat each other on our backs and laugh about it’’
