Ion & Devs don’t think anything is wrong

I was looking through Ion’s liked tweets and found this tweet:

I think the most eyebrow raising part is that Ion agrees with the sentiment that the game has only gotten better, a thought most likely shared by his underlings.

I think this is the attitude that has contributed to BfA’s horrible perception and I strongly believe Blizzard employees will pay for their foolishness.

He’s delusional if he thinks that its gotten better.

Of course he does. It’s a miracle when someone can admit when they are wrong.

You think you want balanced classes, unique gear, and an actual adventure, but you actually don’t

Eh…

WoW has had it’s ups and downs, and really trying to make a statement about the quality of a game with this much history and complexity is largely meaningless.

Many aspects of WoW have certainly gotten better, but many have gotten demonstrably worse, from the overdose of RNG to the class balance, the sense of progression, and worst of all, pathfinder.

Honestly, as long as they cling to their screaming aerophobia, the last decent patch for this game was pre-IoT Mists.

Loud vocal minorities are just that, minorities. If I were to judge BfA’s performance by how these forums and people on social media react (mainly reddit and YouTube), then the game would be horrible and nothing could possibly save it.

Thankfully I know better. The vast majority of opinions about the state of the game are unknown, but judging by the amount of people I see playing the game? Things are fine.

Well. I am not one of his underlings, but I think the game has gotten better since I started playing (early WoD). I can’t speak to before that, of course, but I think Legion was better than WoD, and I think BFA is better than Legion.

Of course, we’re dealing with opinions. My only point in responding is not to be argumentative, but to remind you that your opinion is not the only one.

Yeah, you’re Alliance side on a full server that’s Alliance heavy. Of course you see lots of people.

But go to other RP servers that don’t say “full” and almost all of the people you see are Moongaurd and wyrmrest in bfa zones. Aka the 2 full servers. The other servers are mostly dead.

I do play on other servers you know. It’s a shock, I know, but it’s true.

It’s like you can’t be a fan if you critique something you’re a fan of.

It’s unhealthy to just dig your head in the sand screaming “lalala ur rong lala” … and some of these individuals who call someone “fan” “non fan” “haters” are so simple minded. You can enjoy something but also be critical of that thing. It’s healthy.

World of Warcraft is just that. It has had it ups and downs. It has had its great expansions, its good expansions, and the expansions which made you ask yourself, “What were the devs smoking?”. However, with that being said, you can’t please everyone.

I can’t make a determination on BFA yet as I haven’t upgraded at this time. I’m still have plenty to do in Legion, and I’ll wait until I get a little further to check it out.

I took a break from Wow for about a year this last time, and found when I came back, I remembered why I enjoyed playing.

I hope that Blizzard does fix some of the issues that players have been stating on the support forums at some time. But all in all, my experience with Wow is pretty good. Otherwise, I wouldn’t keep coming back.

Here is the deal, they can think and say whatever they want, but when the 4th quarter profits don’t line up … heads will roll!

So we have that going for us!

Better than MoP. Not in my opinion so no, I don’t agree it’s getting better all the time.

What do you expect him to say?

“sorry, this game sucks. why do you even play?”

They regularly point out that things haven’t gone as well as planned, as it is.

PS. Thinking the game has gotten better is not the same as thinking nothing at all is wrong.

He also liked a tweet with a clip from FinalBossTV talking about how important it is for classes to be fun.

So… your entire premise for conjecturing that Ion and the dev team literally don’t think “anything is wrong” with the state of the game is because Ion liked a tweet that thanked him for his work? That’s not just a shaky premise, that’s so loosely pulled from merest threads of logic that you couldn’t even weave then together to make a pair of Black Mageweave Leggings. :stuck_out_tongue:

It was a positive message thanking him for his input in a respectful manner. How many angry vitriolic tweets do you think he gets in a day? A thousand? Liking one that says something nice about him for a change is far from him believing “nothing is wrong,” they’ve announced already that Azerite is going to be heavily reworked in 8.2, with armor traits all unlocked at a given level forever forward and future progression being there through the neckpiece itself, with more story involved to boot. They’re actually changing things and admitting things haven’t gone right. That’s a far cry from “nothing is wrong,” even on the most pessimistic sense.

Some things have gotten better over time, as well; graphics are better, art is even more fantastic as time goes on, secrets are more intricate, the storylines are more fleshed out (angry tree-burning zombie witches aside) and there are more facets to explore. Have we lost some things along the way I’d like to go back to? Of course. Is BfA the best expac ever in my opinion? Nope. But it’s not the worst, and I have fun with it. Lots of others do, too.

And that’s where your interpretation falls down the hardest. You aren’t enjoying the game as much as you’d like, and you are reading into Ion liking a positive tweet to him being clueless about the state of the game. That’s not indicative of everyone, obviously, given the fact that someone tweeted it in the first place.

Obviously, from this thread alone it’s not just you who isn’t satisfied. And that’s fine! We all have our opinions about the game and whether we enjoy a lot of it, a little of it, or none of it. But there are people who don’t agree with your opinion, and you’re analyzing Ion’s treatment of their positive responses in a way that’s neither impartial nor logical. You’re reacting emotionally.

Again, that’s fine, it means you’re passionate. But take a step back and think, if Ion has literally apologized for some of BfA’s problems, and perception, and several other things, and is directing the dev team to work on fixing those problems, that’s literally the antithesis of him assuming everything is actually fine because one person tweeted something nice at him.
