The question wasn’t so much about 9.2 as much as it was about asking if we would end up with another WoD situation.
He specifically said there would be a 9.2 after that, which means concerns about how the game would turn out are somewhat alleviated.

How could it possibly end right now? The Jailer is not the final boss of 9.1. The story isn’t over until we deal with him so a 9.2 at least is obvious. 
The fact that the Jailer is not the end boss of 9.1 should already prove to everyone that there would be at least a 9.2.
Why were people thinking 9.2 wouldn’t exist again?
Because 9.1, which is the largest x.1 patch, is 2 months later than the 4 month recent norm?
Despite CN being a much longer and harder launch raid? And mid tiers are typically 6 months as well.

Reassuring that 9.2 is going to happen is just them reassuring that WoW’s development cycle is starting to get back on track after Blizzard’s mishaps from Covid.

lol why wouldn’t we? for one, WoD was mostly inconsequential to the overall games story, Shadowlands is not.
Still would probably make more sense than WoD’s ending.
