It should be this way to ease the lack of general coordination. The BGs are amazing, but the kind of players that you meet there make everything dumb and frustrating.
While I can sympathize, overall I feel that’s not a good idea.
But they definitely need to make it so that you can mouse over the wall in the minimap and see the health% remaining. Having to run an addon to keep track of the wall’s health is a glaring problem with standard blizz UI.
We do not need game changes because some people are so inept that they can’t figure out the difference between east or west gates.
Hahahaha “some people” is a new way of saying 99% of people?
Something has to change. Lowering the health of the gates and walls might do it.
Might also need to lower the number/power of vehicles outside of attacking the bases themselves. Too many people use them just as a way to kill players and never attack the base. WG is virtually unwinnable as the attackers unless your team is amazing and the defenders are incompetent.
Last week I was in a group that lost WG as defense. The rage and arguing in chat was priceless.
I can kind of relate to it. Last week I had a attackers team that made almost everything perfect: got all workshops and rushed the side with the least amount of horde players. However, after bringing down the first gate, the entire horde’s team stacked on the 2nd layer and made it impossible to push even with 15+ vehicles.
The only way around to counter that would probably be having a split on the vics squad so we could assault west and east simultaneously. It would be interesting. But can you imagine the pain of coordinating 40 players to do a risky unnusual non obvious strategy?
Specifically in regard to Wintergrasp: If I could have one change made it would be removing the inner fortress wall (the second wall you have to blast through). If they made it so you only had to down the one wall and then the door, at the very least, this would make offense not at such an absolute disadvantage.
The inner wall should be removed, imo.
Isle of Conquest I have never found much of a coordination problem with. Typically if Glaives are taken it is always the gate on the side the glaives come from that is assaulted. If mid is taken it is typically mid gate that is assaulted. If both are taken by a single faction (rare) it is the glaive side gate that is assaulted.
The one caveat is the bomb running, but in most cases that is just people paying zero attention to their surroundings and laying bombs on the wrong side. Maybe it has just been my experience but this isn’t often an issue.
IOC I am fine with, Wintergrasp needs Defenders to wait before leaving keep! Having the ability to take over the Siege Workshops before the opposing team can get to it is super unfair considering they have an entire keep with turrets and a Workshop inside it!
Opponent should have a head start grabbing all workshops then its Defenders turn to take them back!
Edit: Or Defender should have to BUILD the Turrets reinforce the gates and build their own workshop! They should not just spawn with everything completed!
