Now people tell me that with them ‘taking out portals’ in 8.1 that it’s harder to get around.
So I decided to make a couple of video guides to show you how easy it is to use the portal system in WoW…thought I’d never have to make this video but I’m here to prove that it’s not as bad as you all are making it out to be.
you are missing the point, its not about ease, its about the removal of choice. Why cant I as a player choose to stay in dalaran as my city i hearth to and use portals? I like dalaran better. Or for that matter, i liked shrine more. Why are we having choices taken away from us that ultimately dont effect the game. Why are we being corralled into the new city because of portals?
If they are making a new portal room i would then go to Bobbys post, why no mention in patch notes? Blizzard has been doing a lot of underhanded and below the table changes and its not looking good, its just a scummy move to do.
Edited to add that I play on a potato of a computer and loading screens are long for me. If I have to go to Dalaran to take the portal to Vale, I’m looking at 5-10 minutes before I can actually start playing. No, it’s not the end of the world, but it is an inconvenience, which is why having a choice in the matter is nice.
Yeah, if I was in Vale and wanted to go to Mulgore now I have to either go thru Org or blow a hearthstone and port thru new dal, or have my hearth set there to begin with.
2 days ago I could just use a portal to Mulgore.
Like so very many changes they make to old content, its not harder, it just makes things more grindy and time consuming with no significant reward.
This is the strangest hill to die on. Seriously, what was the harm in having portals in a city? Who did it harm having them there? Why is ease of access a bad thing?
I’m just saying… Its not a huge problem, its just yet another minor inconvenience. They add up after a while.
Are you actually defending the removal of the portals, like it does something to make the game better?
That somehow devoting staff to remove the portals before the patch went live was a better use of development time than resolving the long list of known issues put out on patch day - stuff like not getting credit for the warfront quest?
I’m not backing out, just wondering that you can still access everything, they’re making things work still with everything we’re given. Just showing the ridiculousness in a joking way to show that you can still get around. Yeah you can’t get to TB from Vale, but hey, you can still get there from Orgrimmar. Again it’s not like you’re crunched for time every day.
Also, it’ll be in 8.1.5, I’m sure you can hang on until March.
Am I that stupid that even after this I still don’t get what this is about? Maybe the videos don’t really tell me because I’m on the horde side but all I’m seeing is people right clicking portals as we always have.
Most of the portals to old world cities were removed from the Vale in Pandaria. The original poster is showing that one can still navigate and get around without those specific portals because there are plenty of other portals. Other folks miss the convenience of having access to old world portals in both the Vale and Legion’s Dalaran.
It’s not major or game breaking in and of itself, but It’s another instance of Blizzard removing player choice. Sure, they’ve removed old expansion portals before and they’ll do it again, but it feels like another way of them saying that unless you play the game their way, you’re playing the game wrong.
