Invent an innovative maelstrom spender!

I don’t expect Blizzard to change anything mid expansion, so this is more of a fantasy post. But I would love to see the ingenuity that you guys can come up with as Maelstrom spenders. Mine are more for enhancement, but feel free to join in, elemental. Here’s some of my thoughts:

Earthwarden Coat (7 Maelstrom)
10,000 Mana
Instant - 1 minute CD - shares cooldown with Mudbracken

The shaman coats himself in a durable earthen coat, decreasing damage taken, movement speed, and damage dealt by 30% for 7 seconds. This skill can be empowered with extra maelstrom, increasing the duration by 1 for each additional stack of maelstrom consumed. USABLE IN STUN LOLOL.

Mudbracken (7 Maelstrom)
3 second cast time, reduced to 1 second maximum with Maelstrom - 1 minute CD - shares cooldown with boulderfist

The shaman wraps a fist of clay around the target, rooting them for four seconds and dealing crushing earth damage every two seconds. This can be expanded up to 3 seconds with additional maestrom.

Icicle Eruption
2 second cast time, reduced fully by maelstrom stacks.
18 second cd - 30 yd range
A giant pillar of pure ice erupts at the targets feet, knocking them up and dealing medium ice damage. This pillar consumes Hailstorm stacks to amplify and deal massive ice damage. For each hailstorm stack consumed, the cooldown is reduced by 0.5 seconds.

Tornado
Consumes 2 Maelstrom a second
Channeled Spell
Frontal AoE Cone, grows in size over channel duration

The shaman channels a tornado that funnels outwards, dealing wind damage and proccing windfury in a traveling cone. The tornado increases in intensity, gaining power every two seconds to a maximum of six seconds. This ability may proc and consume its own maelstrom stacks according to mastery %, up to 4 extra stacks.

Counterstrike Windcloak
Up to 10 Maelstrom - 45 second cooldown

An eruption of fettered winds cloaks the shaman, causing direct damage dealt to the shaman to be returned to the attacker at 50% return rate (100% with 10 maelstrom). This reflected damage has a chance to proc Windfury weapon on some arbitrary unknown Blizzard internal CD.

If the shaman reflects 50% of his maximum health in Counterstrike Windcloak, the reflect damage is reduced by 1/2 until expiration.

Compressed Oceanosphere
Melee range - summons in front of Shaman - 2 minute cooldown
Requires 10 Maelstrom (Probably a talent that comes off Overflowing or something)

A hypercompressed, pressurized oceanosphere is summoned in front of the shaman. While summoned, the Shaman can attack the oceanosphere to cause it to erupt bolts of pressurized water at nearby enemies. The more damage the shaman deals to the ocean sphere, the quicker the pressurized bolts erupt. The sphere remains for 12 seconds, or until it is destroyed, whichever occurs first.

As the sphere becomes more unstable, it takes more damage. The sphere takes 100% additional damage from lightning.

The shaman can heal the oceanosphere, causing it to extend duration and durability, to a maximum of 25 seconds.

Okay maybe introducing a topic at the dead of night wasn’t the best idea, one final bump for awareness?

I think in general being able to spend maelstrom on some kind of defensive or support utility makes a lot of sense.

Overloaded ascendance overload maelstrom weapons placeing -5 maelstrom d buff per sec up to 50 to repeatedly ascend every second dealing 20k elemental/phy damage and increase your haste by 30% for its duration. You can not gain maelstrom weapon for its duration. (10 seconds max) (no cd)

Would allow to spend maelstrom at key times rather then just rotating every 10 stacks but add risk that you wont be able to use maelstrom weapon untill you hit 0 overloaded stacks.

Also the 20k damage would work for both elemental hounds and phys hounds uncaped aoe that will tech deal less damage per target 5 targets or under but the haste will allow for more use of other abilitys.

I genuinely think an Earth elemental shield empowered by Maelstrom is an idea that should immediately be implemented. Replace one of the class capstone talents with this. Every spec could utilize it. Make it a 1 or 2 min CD useable while stunned. This would round out our survivability imo and add more depth to maelstrom spending.

Boulderfall: Rip a boulder out of the earth behind you and launch it at your target, dealing Physical damage to all nearby enemies and knocking them down.

Earthen Rage: Call spikes of molten earth to assail your target in waves, dealing Flamestrike damage over time.

Cyclone: Surround yourself in slashing winds. For X seconds, your Windfury procs echo to all enemies within 5 yards of you.

Ionizing Storm:
Supercharge your lightning shield causing it to attract bolts of lightning from the sky. Periodically, enemies in your vicinity are electrocuted, causing them to be momentarily stunned (does not contribute to diminishing returns).

Eye of the Storm:
Fly high and cast down lightning strikes in your targeted area. Every enemy grants 1 MSW stack. After 4 seconds, crash down onto your target and stun them for 2 seconds.

Shield Overcharge:

Overcharge your elemental shields, causing them to increase in potency with every activation and have unlimited charges. Duration 8 seconds, refreshed on shield activation.

Lightning Shield: 200% increased damage with every activation, stacking.
Earth Shield: 100% bonus healing with every activation, stacking.
Water Shield: 20% slow with every activation, stacking until root.

Or: Get the hell off of me for at least 8 seconds.
