Introducing the World of Warcraft Community Council

Here’s a big question: How much of this “council” are going to be composed of players that play Classic? Not saying that it should be 50/50 but there should be some voice there for those playing on any type of classic. There are many issues that are plaguing Classic Era, TBC, and we will more than likely see issues crop up in SoM when that comes out. Because as this is frames, this seems to be only focused on retail. I know Holly was in the video but judging by the survey, this seems to only pertain to retail.

I don’t see the point honestly. The people who will have access to that will be the same toxic people responsible for the game being what it is right now. Let’s face it WoW is what it is not only because of Blizzard but because of what a small faction of players wants it to be. The game used to be casual friendly back in WOTLK and Cata. Now it’s reserved to “elite” gamers. And guess what “elite” gamers (and probably streamers) are the ones who will have access to this. Cross faction still wont happen. It will still be impossible to raid on alliance side. 10 players raid wont be back. Gear scarcity will still be a thing. Etc … big waste of time in my book.

Hey Blizz, here is the first topic for your council.

Not sure who thought crippling group finding/creating in an mmo was a “good idea”, but you guys were sorely mistaken.

The difference here is that Ion requested all of the feedback and confirmed the changes can be reverted; all we are doing is expecting Ion to hold his word.

Now we are here more than 3 years later and if the only thing that has been done is to glance at it just goes to show how much they take notice.

I mean, none of this changes the reality that one of the heads of the company actively sells boosts. It’s unethical in every aspect and one could argue that he’s exploiting people for profit. Until that changes, or he’s fired, I’ll keep my subscription inactive.

Its basically the forums 2.0

Instead of wasting your time on bringing in a “new system” why don’t you guys just start being active on the current forums?

because they dont have enough time to be wading through sh!tposts every day, they need constructive and helpful feedback, not “this sucks Blizz, fix or delete!?”

“Diverse” just means it’ll be a bunch of blue hairs with 17,352 pronouns in their bios. This “council” will be in flames within days of formation.

I mean, they straight up had people doing video blogs on what needed to be fixed and suggestions on how to do so, as early as the beta.

They could straight up just play it in the background at 2x while they did their work.

If that wasn’t enough … I’m not sure anything will be.

Alternatively you can even look at guide compilations (e.g. PvP upgrade costs)

How can you look at those numbers and not think, this is “way too much”.

So cool, they reduced it in 9.1.5 … basically almost a year later. This was straight up pointed out in beta in a video, this guide was from 7/15/2021… does hotfixing some item costs really need 4 months to a year? Or is that how long the red tape takes? Either way, that is terrifying for the state of the game.

What if we already filled it out and didn’t provide the other stuff? I’m a small content creator but I’m always on the forums. Should we fill it out again?

what about perl? i thought she was a mvp?

I believe there was a blue post earlier in the thread that said feel free to fill it out again if you feel like you forgot something.

Whoever is actually picked for the first council their role will be major. If the first council fails it’s unlikely this type of program continues, so just remember this if you are signing up. Of course it’s also up to Blizzard since if they don’t communicate with the council it’s just another nail in the coffin.

what a insult to anyone who has ever written on these forums for a positive change, all the sudden for the last 3 xpac’s you have ignored these forums and many other social outlets in response to the game changes you have made, I’ll start with 1 very easy and notable change, the leveling changes to xp also the heirloom changes to sell more boost’s.

I totally disagree. The only reason we have these changes is that the game population has fallen off a cliff. If the expansion was a smashing success, a lot of people who are seriously concerned right now would be playing but watching Actiblizz’s actions. 9.1.5 is about removing a great many minor inconveniences that would have bloated up players’ gametime, that they were sure players would get used to, so they could pack more annoyances in the next expansion without anybody noticing.

Some simple (and free) advice:

Hire a story planner, a micro and macro editor, and fire Danuser.

Also, I have questions about the salary you plan on paying contributors. Beyond providing mere feedback, it seems as if there will be a few additional “requirements” such as meetings and such.

We’ve heard a lot about the horrible working conditions and underpaying of employees over the past few months. Being forthcoming about how you’ll be compensating these “council members” who will be invariably sacrificing both personal and professional time would go a long way towards ABK showing they truly value those they hire.

Also, how will these Council members be identified both in-game and out? What will be their schedules and rotations so that we, as non-council members, can submit our concerns to them?

Why not have the “Council Forum” be public for veiwing but “member only posting”? Are you scared of who might be discovered to be posting and what they’re posting? I thought “transparency” was important. Huh.

Color me skeptical, but this has “do our job for us and don’t get paid” written all over it. Furthermore, didn’t this concept of a “secret forum” used to be a reality which only lead to developer scorn, abuse, and eventual abandonment?

And to that end, will the Council be subject to both the protections and consequences of violating ABK corporate policy regarding harrassment, etc.?

Not saying this can’t be a good thing, but I’d suggest that looking for most likely “secret and free labor” in the midst of a lawsuit alleging poor working conditions, no matter if it’s voluntary, is a bad look.

But I’ve been an MVP and I know how the game is played.

This is actually a good question. Best solution would be for the council members in starting their own topics where they can gather feedback so it gets filtered and re-used for the discussions with the developers.

I see mobile has failed me and wouldn’t take me to Bornakk’s third post in the thread. Word. Thanks for letting me know.

I still think it is a good idea and I don’t have a mobile authenticator.

The fact that this was announced months ago and I haven’t seen any spam advertising yesterday or today, it seems like it is working fine.

Then require it for everybody if it is for security purposes.

Seems a little suspicious they only tie it to group finder but not trade chat. Are trade chat accounts too lucrative for them?

If you read the post, they could’ve still done this for 9.2 while attempting other things in GF as-is.

They basically increased the cap to 60, which helped dramatically, but didn’t solve it entirely, then just threw in the towel right away.

they have told people they can advertise on trade chat - that is the purpose of trade chat. You have general chat to chat.
