Introducing the World of Warcraft Community Council

I believe any adult can tell the difference between constructive and non-constructive feedback though.

The reality though is that any game is developed by the developers and all we do as players is provide feedback/suggestions to systems they implement. So having a council of players doesn’t mean the game is being designed by that council: they’re simply another avenue of providing feedback.

We (as players) are part of the problem and the usual response I see is “the developers make me act this way because of x, y, and z…” “The developers are to blame for my bad behavior”… uh, no… that’s not how it works. You’re in control of your own emotions and how you post on the forum… and the simply fact that people have a lack of self control is why they need to do a private selective-only choice of people who can communicate with the devs. For every 1 good/constructive post you’ll have 10-15 trolling/negative posts…

Having to read all the negative stuff is also demoralizing for the developers morale. People don’t seem to realize there’s real-breathing humans with emotions that make the game.

I applied, we shall see.

It struck me as odd that they did not ask a person’s gender or age, considering all the flack they are getting about being inclusive.

Oh. Did you guys finally learn that the secret channels that you only invited big time streamers and other names was a bad idea? That those streamers and other personalities didn’t align with a majority of the player base? Absolutely hilarious.

so i’m out?

wait, am i in?

I read somewhere the position will reopen (ie all new people w/ new applications) annually

just sounds like a click

I want to touch upon this since you brought this up. This reminder goes for everyone:

The internet can be fun, but it can be draining. Step away from your computer because it’s going to be there when you get back. Take some time and breathe, enjoy some coffee or something.

Why should either of those things be asked? A blind sample is better in that you are more likely to get a proportional representation if the sample size is big enough.

lol poor people getting paid to develop a game, tough stuff

weird but blind is best

Won’t lie, I’m really happy to see Blizzard doing this and I would totally love to see if I can actually be part of it and help the game be better in one way or another. After all, I’ve been playing the game since Classic and if my experiences can help then great!

Sent my information thru the submission link <3

I’ve been here since Classic. 17 years, my friend.

For 17 years–they’ve said the same word salad.

For 17 years–the community has given thousands upon thousands of great and wonderful ideas…only to have the developers be like “We’re ignoring you…LA LA LA…and putting in this feature that absolutely NOT one person asked for!”

This is a PR stunt to stem the bleeding subscriber loss.

A farce and a half.

They might actually be able to get all that information thru our Bnet ID and they ask for that.

Another thing where it looks like you have to be a streamer / youtuber to get in.

It could be but at the same time it could not.

For now I think it’s better to give them the benefit of the doubt. Specially if it might actually give them a better perspective of the game.

They will only get negative criticism from me, since this isn’t the only time they’ve asked for this feedback, to only have it ignored.

Nothing will change.
I’m glad you’re giving them a chance–but if you think about it, they have people working there who can take our suggestions and implement them into the game 7 days a week…once all the coding, development, programming, and artwork are complete.

They could do anything, any time.

Gathering a year of feedback means nothing will be implemented for a year–and I’m not paying one more cent for the majority of the communities’ concerns to fall on deaf ears.

Have they tho? I mean, I’ve seen other rounds of them trying to get feedback but nothing like this and I understabd your own frustration because I’ve been frustrated as well, specially when their communication is kinda… dead?

I have also played the game since TBC (with some breaks here and there) and if they can actually do something to improve this situation who knows!

I think this can be a great idea and a starting point to be more positive about the future of WoW. #Let’s Give change A chance

sign up for the program…
