Introducing the Tinker: A Versatile New Class for WoW

Your fresh new idea is the same tripe that’s been pushed since demon hunters were made playable, and which has seen a resurgence since TWW was announced.

It also hurts the arguments for tinkers when the people making them always insist that it be limited to a select few races. A lot if not most people want race/class restrictions removed entirely and every race can already be an engineer; why would humans have priority over undead, who build their own plague-hurling siege vehicles? Or nightborne, who build arcane constructs and telemetry networks? Or mechagnomes, who are actual cyborgs?

Okay, so how would they actually be different from any other class? DPS do their thing, healers do their thing, tanks do their thing, and the only things separating specs of the same role are their visuals and the tools they’re given to do their jobs. Plus the fact that the fantasy of fighting with machines can already be achieved as a hunter with a mechanical pet and Wildfire Bomb, or any other class with engineering grenades.

If the class were to end up considered mandatory for every high-end group like Aug is/was, then it’s already more trouble than it’s worth.

We’ve already been exploring Azeroth’s history for most of the game’s lifespan. We don’t need an entire class to do it.

They have arcane constructs to patrol Silvermoon and their base camps. That’s about it.

sooo… literally just mechagnome with engineering profession.

Yeah this is well thought out when you seemingly forgot gnomes and dwarves are the technological craftsmen of the alliance

Tinker should have a metamorphosis like ability where they hop into a giant mech for a few seconds and go on a rampage.

Also, i really like the idea of a healing spec, kinda like a combination of WC3 Alchemist.

I would really like a tinker class. But I do not think we need to limit the amount of races it could be. I dunno if blizz has any plans to add another class.

You’re aware Tinkers are an actual class in wow lore, unlike the other professions, even going as far as having full tinker teams on Island Expeditions in BFA?

Well I’ll add my contribution to this Tinker thread then lol

I think a science based healer would both be new/unique and fun.

My idea for this would be a Tinker spec called a Chemist.

The Chemist healer would have abilities that utilize things like gases, concoctions, cauldrons, injections, vials, mutations, chemicals and the main focus would be centered around blight, sludge, slimes and toxic gas clouds.

Things you see with the scourge, undercity and plague lands.

I written a more detailed exploration of ideas here…

While i enjoy the effort and the idea, the suggestion has been put forward countless times and the answer is pretty much no.

I wish, I have no affiliation with any of the classes in game than the tinker, that’s why I barely play anymore

ok. :+1:

So pretty much the Engineer from GW2. lol

Sign me up. Seen 1000 different concepts for this class in the last decade and it reminds me of all of the fan made concepts for Demon Hunter too. Now that DH and Housing are finally done, i feel like the Tinker is next.

If they release mid-TWW, that would be ballsy move that would also be very smart, seeing as historically expansion sub numbers drop off hard during the mid-expansion patch. This keeps players on their toes to keep playing through the entire thing, just like how Augmentation Evokers popped up out of nowhere with minimal datamining for the Zaralek/Abberus mid patch too.

If they don’t release this class for Undermine, I feel like the next ‘best’ opportunity would be for the Last Titan. We now have lore confirmation that the Keepers and Watchers are on our side vs. the Titans. Which means we’ll be gaining Mimiron as an essential and likely pivotal ally to help us navigate this great Manifold conspiracy and the plethora of machinery we’ll be dealing with along with it.

Ummm. What lol

Everyone ITT is arguing with ChatGPT lmao.

Listen, I am absolutely 100% for a Tinker class, but really OP… chatgpt? Do better. :-/

There’s no reason to race restrict it. Anyone can learn how to use technology. Just give cosmetic options to swap which races’ tech you want to use the same way druids can change what their forms are like.

The reason Goblins and Gnomes turned to technology was because their diminutive size makes them physically weaker than their larger contemporaries. This pushed them towards using technology to move the odds in their favor. They use mech suits in order to stand toe-to-toe with Tauren, Orcs, Draenei, and Worgen.

So yeah, it sort of defeats the purpose to see Draenei, Orc, Worgen, or Tauren Tinkers.

Vulpera would be an excellent fit though. I would limit the class to Gnomes, Earthen and MGnomes on the alliance, and Goblins, Earthen, and Vulpera on the Horde.

So a class barely anyone would play because it’s arbitrarily restricted to races no one likes? Sounds smart.
