Interview with Jeremy Feasel

So there is a new interview with Jeremy Feasel on Taliesin and Evitel, it is not very interesting but it might interest someone here. They said some of Island Expeditions special quests will continue in this expansion.

More allied races confirmed too.

I’m speculating the Dragon Isles and Klaxxi will be explored. The Klaxxi aren’t too hard to figure out. With Azerite boiling up everywhere and N’Zoth making his move, I’m not surprised to see the minions of Old Gods rising up and on the move.

Wrathion and the Dragon Isles I’m not quite as certain about. I won’t be surprised if he has some plan to save the Dragonflights or Azeroth, but at the same time I can’t get the fact that he was in the Stormwind Embassy during the 2017 Blizzcon demo out of my head. What with all the lackluster Allied Races the Alliance has gotten, I’m not ruling out a Dragon Allied Race he’d bring to the Alliance.

One thing he says that I find interesting is that the story is not solely about this new landmass.

This might mean Horde and Alliance are not joining forces again.

Let me have an actual expedition on an island. Pull the other team off and let us explore, dammit.

Yeah and everyone was asking for him in WoD and Legion, they even added him in the Chromie scenario.

He was pulled from Legion content in the Alpha or Beta. He was originally supposed to be claiming Black Dragon Eggs in Neltharion’s Lair. He definitely seems interested in restoring at least his flight, if not the other flights as well.

The Allied Race part might just be that everything and it’s mother which isn’t playable just feels like Allied Race material these days. At least, those things which can easily re-use an existing player-model.

Am I the only one suffering from allied race burnout? I’ve reached the point where my reaction is, ā€œoh god, another one?ā€

Does the interview mention muffins?

I don’t think so sadly :disappointed_relieved:

To Hardwire : It depends which one, some bring nice races/stories.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I’m quite eager to learn what the next Allied Races are. We haven’t really learned about any new Allied races since Mag’har/Kul Tirans.

There are quite a few races I wouldn’t mind seeing made playable, and thinking about what races would join what factions provides an interesting mental exercise.

I caught this interview pretty quickly after it was posted.

I’m starting to think that Blizzard’s model for Allied Races in BfA is and was always ā€œfront load 6 of them, 4 as a preorder bonus and 2 as a reward for finishing launch content, then add a pair every .5 patchā€. In the abstract this makes sense, as .5 patches tend to fall in the middle of a season which is after people have started to exhaust the initial wave of content but before crunch time.

That’s probably why the Zandalari ended up in 8.1.5 when they decided to do Kul Tirans after all but couldn’t make them in time for release.

So if I’m right, we are looking at 4 more Allied Races in the context of BfA, 2 in 8.2.5 and 2 in 8.3.5. After that it will be an ā€œas the opportunity arisesā€ thing.

On another note based on some of the comments in the interview, I’m officially calling that Sylvanas will use Xal’atath to open the way to Naz’jatar.

I don’t know exactly how or for what purpose. But I believe that’s going to happen.

Personally I’m of the mind that, ā€˜as the opportunity arises,’ can be translated to, ā€˜Pre-Order bonus or whenever we need to boost the numbers for a quarterly report.’

I hope this is the case. That hes going to use Azerite to empower the Dragonflights again so they can breed.

Get Azshara to destroy the Kul Tiran Fleet for her maybe? Sylvanas has lost the Zandalari Fleet so she must balance it out somehow. Of course N’Zoth sees Nazjatar rising as being to his benefit since it allows his true body to surface(Azshara clearly encountered him directly when she went underwater in her Warbringers short).

Of course N’Zoth’s plan will backfire considering how powerful the Players are.

I think it’s more a case where Sylvanas wants something in Naz’jatar. She calls Xal’atath the ā€œTorch that will light our way to victoryā€, taken literally it’s possible that ā€œwayā€ goes through Naz’jatar.

I’m kinda in that boat, but if only because I am an Altoholic and I keep going,

ā€œWait. I can’t do this-- What if the next Allied Races are really cool and something I’ve wanted?ā€
As it was, we had 13 races and 12 classes, which worked out well for me. Now we’re sitting at 13 base races, and at least 10 Allied Races. Things don’t line up quite so neatly.

N’Zoth also wants Nazjatar brought up for obvious reasons so no wonder he insisted that the Blade of the Black Empire remain for Sylvanas to grab since the first step in both’s goals is the same(get Nazjatar to rise from the Depths).

Of course as to what Sylvanas is trying to reach in Nazjatar… Who knows what it is. N’Zoth wants to rise to the surface regardless.

I hadn’t considered that the Dragon Isles might end up only being an island expedition, and the thought that they might is incredibly disappointing.

I have a similar but different problem. My reaction to new allied races is ā€œanother race loses its individuality for the red/blue blob?ā€

Like I’d be all for playing a dragonman race, just like I was Zandalari, but I absolutely loathe the idea of even more independent groups in the world being consumed by the factions. Especially for dragons, more than probably anyone else.

I am somewhat wondering if even the Naga aren’t N’zoth’s main play. Also from some of his dialog it seems that he doesn’t see us as his main opponent. Hell he even talks about ā€˜saving us’ in one of his whispers.

I am kind of hoping that as the war reaches it’s crescendo both factions get totally smashed by the rising forces of N’zoth who completely exploits how ever stretched both sides are.

Happy to hear about new allied races, personally. Maybe this time it’ll be something I’m interested in playing.
