Intermittent latency

World latency is jumping from 50 to 5000 causing disconnects, pausing a freezes.

WinMTR shows no loss even when having issues. I am pressing the skyward assent button with no response in game.

Edit… and now it shows 5k home latency. 3 days of this now.

None of the IP addresses you can find online are accurate anymore . Blizzard now rotates the IP addresses on a regularly

That makes troubleshooting easy… At least it shows hops, packets and loss to a blizzard server.

It does not. Using a old IP addresses you may not even be connecting to a data center. Any information collected is is irrelevant A majority of the connection issue have been solved with a VPN. I would suggest trying a VPN or alternate ISP to test. I would also try running repair that has fixed a few peoples issues

The first line was sarcasm. The rest was real. And no, I am not using a vpn to play a premium game. That is just stupid advice. The issue resolved itself after maintenance.

Game has been unplayable for almost 2 weeks now for me. I legit get kicked less than a minute in by lagging out. So yea I’m really hoping they’ll fix it. I tried fiddling around with addons and no addons, repairing game files, reinstalling etc. It just doesn’t work

Actually it’s not not. It’s part of troubleshooting and a vast majority of a all of the latency issues are because of routing by the person’s internet service provider. People need to stop thinking of blizzard as a internet provider and more of a destination/ you do not blame the airport because your Uber driver did not get you to the airport. It is the same thing your internet service provider is 100% responsible to get you to Blizzard that is what you were paying for. Your subscription to Blizzard only gives you access to the game it is your internet service providers job to get you to the game.

And I will almost guarantee that if you had issues when they rescrambled the IP addresses they will pop up again. Because in a majority of cases it’s a routing issue when they change the IP addresses it can also change the routing

It is actually 100% up to your ISP to update their routing tables it is not up to Blizzard to tell your ISP to do its job. When blizzard changes it’s IP address of the servers a BGP request is sent by Blizards ISP. That request propagates through the internet if your ISp chooses not to update their routing it is 100% on them.

you pay your ISP how much to get you to Blizzard. Blizzard is 100% responsible for their own network that is it everything outside of that is the responsibility of your ISP

Maybe you should actually put blame where it belongs and that would be your internet service provider/ no one blamed the customer we’re telling you who is responsible

A vpn is not a solution it is a workaround. Recommending it is a waste of money and a plug for vpn software.

Ultimately, my service provider don’t care if blizzard loses customers.

A VPN is a test tool. In reality if a VPN fixes the issue. It’s either your ISP or a routing issue. Many ISP will actually look into issues if you get the Issue escalated. Blizzard Now rotates their IP address for security reasons . If your ISP does not update it’s routing it will cause issues.

A vpn is a way to get people’s computers infected by them downloading and using software they have never used. People having issues are all over the forums right now and are not going to care why they can’t connect, just that there connection is poor on blizzard but yet they can stream 10 movies simultaneously, download games and still talk on discord just fine.

If it is a routing issue, it is on blizzard to proactively work with the ISP. A vpn even as a diagnostic tool should never be recommended. People will download infected garbage and not use a trusted software. There internet will be spied on. Any post that recommends a VPN should be flagged and removed

Fake news. VPNs are safe and effective tools to test bad routing.

Nope, Blizzard is a gaming studio and has no part in how you are routed to the datacenter.

Then those people have the alternative option of speaking with their ISP if they don’t have the knowledge to avoid malware.
Edit: It’s pretty hard to mistake downloading big name options like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, SurfShark, WindScribe, etc. Some antivirus suites even have a built-in VPN.

Falsely flagging a common troubleshooting step that Blizzard has been recommending for over a decade isn’t going to get you the results you think.

You can keep shouting into the void or start holding the connection company (your ISP) responsible for a bad connection. It’s just fellow players here and Blizzard does not assist with your ISP’s routing issues anymore.
