Interesting lore of warlock class quests

So, I’m currently leveling a warlock because 8.3 is absolute trash.

I was doing the succubus unlock quest, and part of that quest is to summon and kill an unbound succubus in the basement of the slaughtered lamb. When you summon it, it says something in demonic, and i noticed an interesting word.

“Mannorgulan Zar zila il alar kiel X azhalada Kanrethad

Is it just a coincidence that I am reading too much in to, or is it at all possible they were somehow hinting at Kanrethad’s involvement with the legion way back in vanilla.

Never heard of him.

I believe that you can speak Demonic with curse of tongues. Maybe get a horde down there, curse them, and see if it translates.

Any warlock thats been playing the spec since legion should know him, and most alliance questers. He is the mayor of Darkshire, and went on to side with the legion, form the council of the black harvest, and eventually betray azeroth to the legion.

He also plays a medium sized part of the warlock campaign in legion, eventually ending up as your main bodyguard

I’ve been playing since the betas before Vanilla was released. The name never jumped out to me. Then again I really didn’t pay any attention to those “bodyguards”, they always seemed a silly addition to the game.

He has some interesting lore to him. He was the main villian in the quest f or warlocks to get green fire, too. Worth a google if for nothing more than interesting warlock lore.

Seems like it’s just a nonsense word put into the speech generator for Demonic. Probably as a vanity thing for one of the developers:

  • Kanrethad is the name of former game designer Alexander Brazie’s warlock character. He was a game designer who spearheaded the green fire quest chain during Mists of Pandaria.
  • Kanrethad is present in the list of words created by the in-game language parser for the Draconic, Draenei and Eredun (Demonic) languages. It is however probably not an actual word.

Ah, so the name itself is just a reference to a game designer, and used for both demonic and the character. Interesting. The more you know!

I just noticed this playing classic anniversary, and I looked everywhere. No one has talked about it and everything else thinks you’re talking about the MoP quests for green fire.
