I’m interested in a list of what people think are the problems with Multi-boxing. This can be either from the side of the boxer or people who encounter the boxer
The goal is a list I can peruse to make my decision on if I support it or not. This is not a thread for arguments. If you see a problem you are going to say just like the comment, don’t post a new one.
I used to play very heavily and never came across multiboxers so I’m interested to see what impact if any they actually have on the game.
Thanks all,
Kar
I’m cool with it because Blizzard says it is okay to do.
No forum opinion required.

While Blizzard is cool with it. The goal as stated above isn’t to get the forum’s opinion. Its to ensure I make mine based off pros and cons. Because I have not experienced any cons.
Thanks for your post.
I don’t know how to get the program working. I downloaded it and everything was looking good (the macros I made, etc) but I have a weird keyboard so the software didn’t like my computer, and I am still having trouble designating which window is which and renaming them.
I don’t want to break any rules, but I want to try it so I can do raids with just 7 friends (I would play three hunters). This would be pretty cool! Alternatively, I’d like them to scale raids down to 8.

Odd goal. For one thing, why do you need to know what everyone else thinks before you make up your mind? And for another, Blizzard allows it so whether or not anyone agrees/disagrees is irrelevant atm.

one thing i don’t understand about multiboxing.
don’t you need a third party program to run everything and isn’t using third party programs against ToS?

A multi-boxxer just got banned. it appears they banned a few of them. he just posted to forums a lil bit ago asking why he was banned. i would talk to him before diving into it or spending money on it
Because in the pursuit of always being right I need to be sure I actually understand the thing. I am not asking for what people think. I am asking for what problems they have come across. I realize this forum would be unhelpful for pros and so I will need to do that research myself.
Huh alrighty then. Good luck with that, I suppose.
The primary reason people are against multi-boxing seems to come down to two arguments:
-
It interferes with their collecting herbs/mining and causes prices in the AH to be lower which means they don’t make as much gold. Other people (me included) like the fact the prices are more affordable if I don’t feel like farming.
-
They feel that it is unfair in Warmode. Then again, Warmode has never been fair (like the person who literally spends hours each day doing nothing but camping little toons). So I don’t really get this one either since Warmode is optional.
Those are pretty much the two main arguments against it.

Have YOU experienced problems gathering from nodes?
Have you found warmode to be unfair due to boxing?

Nope. I rarely see them when I’m out gathering to be honest. Once in a while I see some druids gathering herbs but that’s about it.
I can’t really comment on Warmode as I spend little time in it.

PRO: They keep the auction house full of crafting materials.
CON: You lose 9/10 fights with them in PVP
CON: They have so many resources when it comes to farming it’s almost impossible to beat them on the AH
PRO: They’re usually not good in arguments. (easy argument win)
CON: They’re usually furies

Thanks for your post. Although including a furries comment and an argument win comment are probably gonna make the intended “like to show this is a problem you experience” system not work.
There are like 30 threads on this a week. Just read some of them.

The problem with those threads is they devolve into ad hominem attacks, repeated points with no development, or just logically unsound arguments.
My goal isn’t to have an argument about ban it or not. My goal is to get a list of cons with it so I can combine it with the pros and decide how I feel about it.

Windows is a 3rd party program.
Chrome/Firefox/Edge are 3rd party programs.
If it’s not WoW, it is 3rd party to Blizzard. What is not allowed is things that directly change or alter the game files between the client and server, or programs and macros that automate multiple actions without user input.
Multiboxing simply sends user inputs to multiple windows.

This post is not on topic. I understand why you made it but please avoid starting an argument here. Just looking for points that are on topic.
Oh sure.
Its annoying to be called a ‘bot’, cheat, or otherwise.
Its time consuming.
the variation between software/hardware or even if the individual is using a key caster at all is moot to most.
Its easy to do with 2-3 accounts.
Its a challenge, its difficult to do well.
The common interpretation of standing farms at fast respawn points as bots. Can most definately be wrong. I could do it with a key caster and macros.
You can do it with macros. Sorta boring mashing the samebutton over and over though
Before multi-tap nodes, we just camped nodes. I still camp nodes.
Its been there since the beginning of this game. Its been allowed since the beginning of this game.
Since the token is a thing, why dont you spend some of them on a new base version and give it a go. Then you too, can have a clue.
