Once, the Bronze Dragonflight observed countless timelines. Many think that there is only one true timeline, and all the rest are mere questions of possibility, but each timeline was a seperate entity, and each had to be maintained. Innumerable timelines, innumerable possibilities. And in one timeline, the Third War began on a very different footing.
The Cult of the Damned is sundered, Kel'Thuzad remains in power, but some of his students have parted from him, due to a disconnect in their ideals. King Terenas Menethil heeded Medivh's command, and Thrall, not Grom, was captured by the humans. Antonidas is conflicted about his declaration over Kel'Thuzad, and wonders if he had been too swift to pass his judgment.
In this timeline, the Reign of Chaos may very well end far differently...
Only time may tell.
Hey all, this is an AU nation-and-character-focused RP, focusing on the period of Warcraft History known as the Third War. Generally speaking, this one starts off with the human nations on a slightly better footing than they were in canon. Calia Menethil sails west, with a good chunk of Western Lordaeron going with her, Dalaran is at least considering opening research into Necromancy, if only to combat it should it reemerge as a threat to humanity. Who knows how Thrall being the one imprisoned will effect the orcish side of things.
Despite the description, Terenas and Arthas Menethil both stayed in Lordaeron. Somebody's gotta hang behind to slow this "great threat" down, right?
The cult rebels will also be presenting an interesting angle. What will they do? What ideals led them to splitting from Kel'Thuzad? That is up to whichever player deigns to lead them, if any.
At any rate, I'mma do an interest check before I actually start any threads.

You do understand that the Cult of the Dammed was not a cult of ideals, but a gathering of those who felt left behind in prosperity and hope. It's main sell was a promise of power to reverse their fortunes. so since it was a cult of selfishness, hatred, greed, fissures within would not be from a clash of "ideals" but schisms of power and influence.

Yeah, actually, I do realize that. That being said, Kel'thuzad had one vision for the Cult of the Damned, but being made up of, you know, people, not everyone would agree with that vision, once they put it together. And given the kind of characterization (besides fanaticism) they've been given in the past, a splinter group could feasibly emerge, provided the right events transpiring without interruption, which is how the schism in this AU occurred, a group of people dissatisfied with the current status quo, for their own reasons, manage to arrange events for them to split off without being caught too early on.
Of course, if anyone decides to play as them, what their "own reasons" are is ultimately up to their player.
It is an interesting concept, but not really my cup of tea, sorry. Would be interested in reading along if you do get it started.
Like Kersia said, it's an interesting concept, but not for me.
If you don't get enough interest, maybe you could turn the idea into a story.
