Interactive Decore Toggle

What do you think the chances are of getting an interactive decor toggle in the future that turns object interaction on or off so an item stays in whatever state it is in when interaction is disabled? Not necessarily right now, or even “soon,” but possibly at some point in the future, maybe?

like a “lock” function?

It would help with somethings as the hit box on some items makes it hard to select things behind them.

But overall, I don’t find that locking and item in place has much use for me. What I need is the ability to nest items together so that they all move as a single object.

For example, I made a christmas tree with about 9 plants, 11 glowing ball things, some stright lights, the train, some plushies, a dalaran sun thing and boxes for presents. I’d like to link them all together so that I could just move the tree as a single object.

Yeah. Take the secret bookcase door. It would be nice to be able to “lock” it as closed. Or turning off a chair so its an object and not clickable. Or turn on/off some lights so they are always on or off.

Like I said, low priority, but still could be valuable in certain builds.

I agree :100:. It needs to be a high priority qol addition. I have asked for this in other threads. Linking objects together as a parent and child/children so when you move the parent all the other items move with it.

Gotcha!

I was thinking lock as in “not being able to move it”. But ya, I 100% want the ability to turn off interactivity on objects, but for me with a caveat. I want switches in game and the ability to link switches to animated objects (doors, lights, hidden bookcases etc).

From what I’ve experienced, the toggle on/off thing only is seen by the person. So if I turn off the fire in the fireplace, I see it as off but my visitor still sees it as on.

But, I imagine that we’ll have DMF style games soon, like whack-a-mole or that Dance Dance Revolution game, in our own houses. And those need a “start” button at least.

That is kind of worse, imo.

I really need to know how my house appears to visitors, so I can keep a consistent look and atmosphere.

Being able to toggle off interactivity would be great. There are a lot of kitbash tutorials out there that use an elegant door because it’s dyeable and has a nice straight edge to it. The piano tutorial is a good example, black dyed door frames act as good piano keys.

Only issue is people can come and click on the black keys and now they’re suddenly out of place amongst all the other doors in the kitbash.

If interactivity can’t be removed, having a second option without the interactivity would also be good.
