Intel Rocket Lake reviews

Yeah ended up getting an all core overclock on mine of 5.2 @1.330 LLC6 in bios. Its completely stable

It would be silly to upgrade now though because both processors that are coming out at the end of this year well below anything currently out out of the water. Zen4 and 12th gens look like beast

I can do 5.2 all core easier than the flexible turbo table, but I like the single core benchmarks lol

Ever easier if I disable HT. 5.3ghz 1.39v.

Waiting for my 9900K. Hope i could push 5.1Ghz.

I do notice most of the damning reviews on intel, specifically anandtech, stick to “spec” memory.

In their 11900k review, they tested the 11700k/11900k on 3200 4x32, 10900k with 2933 4x32, 8700k/9900k at 2666 4x32…

And then the new ryzen chips at 2x32.

Why 128gb memory?
Why only 64 for the AMD systems?

And of course they throw in a ton of cpu limited scenarios like low resolution low detail results. These are really gonna hurt on 2666/2933.

No idea. I trust only reviews using same parts or RAM speed as much as possible.

Because they know Intel has a severe advantage on above 3800mhz because AMD cannot currently and stably support faster speeds.

I’m most likely going team red myself when zen4 comes out and we get this fixed much more stable version of AGESA.

Like I said that’s at the end of 2021 so upgrading now would just be silly. You’re going to upgrade just to upgrade again in six or seven months?

12th gen vs Zen4 it’s going to be very interesting considering both are complete redesigns

I’m skipping next gen. I planned 5 years for my 5900X. Even my 9900K will last me for a while.

Maybe… Core i9-15900K.

Been saying it for a while now but he agrees:

It shouldn’t have been called an i9.

i9 shouldn’t have existed at all, all it did was devalue the i7 and this is proof

Like I said earlier, the star of the show is i5s. Cheap and better than previous gen.

For this generation I agree there should not have been an i9.
10th gen - it’s fine. It’s what 9th gen should have been.
9th gen - i9 shouldn’t have been an i9, and the i7 should not have been an i7. They fixed this with 10th gen.

After seeing the benchmarks for the 11700k I just saved $100 and bought a 10700k.

A 5.3Ghz 10900k or 11900k both clap.
We’re also missing huge perf to the 5000 series Ryzen though. The L3 cache got a 50% perf boost in upcoming firmware. We’ll have to have people redo benchmarks, this is going to be massive upgrade on some apps.

Yeah, the latest BIOS for my board got the fix. Boosting is a bit less aggressive though.

    1. Update AMD AGESA ComboV2 1.2.0.1 PatchA
    1. Fix L3 cache performance on Ryzen 5000 series processors
    1. Fix USB 2.0 devices stability and compatibility

I think that’s a nice play. Looking at these reviews, it’s a hard sell…
