Okay so before you even say what’s going on I want to put a disclaimer. I know I’m going to get fan boys from both sides but I’d prefer not to hear from them and just hear raw data. Now that is that stated…
I’m currently sitting on a i7 6700k OC 4.6 with a GTX 1080ti and 3600mhz G.skill ram. I am building a new computer rig. Here’s the rig I have in mind.
CPU: i7 10700k or Ryzen 3900x MB: ROG Gaming-E Ram: 4000mhz HyperX Predator Cooler: NZXT Kraken z73 360 GPU: RTX Super 3080 (as soon as they come out) Im keeping the same Monitor and it’s an LG 32in 1440p 144hz monitor with Gsync
I do not do anything on my computer other than game. It is a pure gaming rig. I am also a bit of an FPS snob because my eyes are highly subjective visually to frame rates. I do play other games than wow.
So here’s the bottom line of what I’m wanting to hear from you guys and hopefully you can help me choose between Intel or AMD. I would like to hear from both sides.
If you have a similar rig to my rig and have a Ryzen 3900x please reply with what type of frame rates you’re getting in WoW. If you were on the other side of the fence and have a similar rig to mine concurrently have the i7 10700k please reply with what type of frame rates you’re getting in WoW. My goal is to constantly be sitting at 144fps regardless of what I’m doing with gsync on
Price isn’t really a factor in this decision it’s going to be all about what gives me my desired frame rate. Do two discounts through my work all this stuff prices out about the same anyway.
Intel is still best for pure gaming. Also, WoW’s engine is older, and more CPU-reliant than GPU-reliant. A 3080 will be mega overkill, and you’re still better off going with the Intel over the AMD.
I know it will be over till 4 while however won’t be overkill for pubg and some of the other games I play. I know wow is cpu-based that’s why I’m wanting to hear some frame rates because of Intel is going to be a landslide I’ll hands down go with the i7 10700k
I get anything computer-related for roughly 40% off through my work dude if I go with AMD I will update sometime next year to the new amd’s. Right now I’m just wanting to hear frame rates the people are currently getting if they’re on one of the processors I’m considering
That’s all benchmarks man I’ve done all the research and I’m tired of hearing benchmarks I’m here to ask frame rates that players are currently getting because I’m wanting to hear real world data.
Normally, I’d just point you to Anandtech’s bench marks for both CPUs and let you pick based on which games you play… But for some reason, they don’t have benchmarks for the 10700K up right now. So, here’s their reviews with benchmarks for both processors. Yes, they do show framerates for the games. But they don’t usually use overpowered GPUs like your 3080. It looks like they just used a 1080.
Don’t like World of Tanks? Just go forward a page or two until you find the games you care about.
Edit: The first link is more useful if you just want to do comparisons, since the 3700X was released before the 10700K. That one shows the performance for both CPUs on the games.
According to your MoBo you would only be able to use AMD processors. If you have liquid cooling for your CPU, it honestly will not matter which one you get. They will both run fairly close to each other in terms of power and should net you about the same FPS
That is not correct my friend the Rog gaming e comes in both variants x570 and Z490.
I should probably explain a little better I didn’t mean it in a negative way I’m just saying I work for a video game company and I hear benchmarks all day long. That’s all I hear is data data data. There are benchmarks that you can achieve with something overclocked chilled with liquid nitrogen and then There Were Real World results that you achieve at home actually playing the game
So I’m more asking what type of frame rates people on similar rigs to mine are getting when actually playing the game on a regular computer not a testing center computer. When people look at benchmarks they tend to forget that.
As I said my goal is to be able to sit at 144fps constantly regardless what I’m doing and I can’t really go any higher than that due to g-sync
All good, but maybe next time a ‘thank you for trying’ would be more appropriate rather than giving me a hard time cus you didn’t get the exact info you wanted.
I’m not sure if it’s true that I’ve been hearing at work that due amd’s young age their x570 motherboards are highly unstable compared to their z390/z490 counterparts. Even top of line like the ROG Hero or MSI Godlike. Like I said my coworkers at work or just going off data/reviews this isn’t real world experience.
For what it’s worth, I bought a ROG board 5 years ago for a 6700K. It continued to get firmware/BIOS updates for about 3 years. So, if there are issues they can fix, it looks like they do fix them.
It has taken a long time for Intel to get slapped properly for the manufacturing problems. Upper management has put their head in the sand for years. Sorry your options didn’t work out, don’t expect much better next quarter.
As far as which CPU to buy, Intel, everything is made to work with Intel and it’s a safe bet for anything you want to run.
Anyone telling going Intel for their meme 5% increased FPS for CPUs is just straight up misinformed and probably a fanboy of Intel. As someone who is in the industry as I’ve mentioned before in prior posts, I strongly advise you go AMD for CPU. I’m not going to explain why or argue with anyone as there is already data and all the arguments have already been made online and are easily found. I would advise staying far away from AMD GPUs though as their software is pretty unreliable even with the most up to date fixes.
