I don’t think anyone in this game should benefit from the deaths of others, and this passive has in some form been a part of retribution since the legion devastation of the spec, ret has begged for this atrocity to be removed so that ret could hopefully become a spec about your play and not how many deaths aka wings uptime you were given due to failures, please we’ve been expressing how bad it feels, It’s not fun, your performance is not your own in a raid setting

Please, the spec literally cannot be balanced with this passive in the game, just remove it, look at the data of retribution at lower levels of play with permanent wings because allies are dying, It’s awful for the spec and not fun and disruptive, just remove it, instruments of retribution has got to go
While they are at it Retribution Aura might as well just be removed or made a passive + damage aura. It has the same issue in bad groups where people wonder what fire feels like you get a high uptime meanwhile in groups where people know fire=bad you will be lucky to have a 20% uptime on a fight.
10.2 is coming to the ptr soon, please nothing would please me more than to see this abomination removed from retribution
I want the old ret aura back where you attack someone with it and the attacker takes holy damage. That is ret aura not this bs where someone has to die to get wings for x amount of seconds.
Correct, a thorns effect is fine, the current retribution passive instruments of retribution is not fun and bad for the character, please pally dev, it’s understandable that it’s good for the bad retribution players, please remove this unfun hoping your team mates suffer passive
Coming back from not playing since Cata I found this to be so weird. The point of buffs and utility is to make sure others not only DON’T die but they do well while alive. Yet here we are getting crit buffs on player failure? In pvp that’s cool maybe but that’s so strange in a PVE aspect.
This should be a pvp talent. Lets be real everyone dies in pvp so this being a pvp talent makes sense. But in pve it should be different. Make it like it was where when someone with ret aura is attacked you take holy damage. That feels more like Retribution Paladin what is more retribution then you hit me you will instantly take holy damage. How many times I watched people kill themselves in pvp to ret aura because the paladin was so low but being a paladin and staying alive just to die to ret aura.
This is what it should be not ohh my teammate died now I will get retribution for them. No we should not be wanting our team mates to die to make the aura be worth wile.
Everyone knows that as thematic Instrument is, it’s bad for the spec health and it incentivizes an extremely toxic concept (die so I gain DPS).
I hope it gets removed eventually.
Agreed, it should be removed like the stain it is, it serves no purpose and is only bad for the spec, was hoping that the rework would get rid of it, but it just got nerfed… from 12s… to 9s… just remove it please for 10.2

If Blizz just came out with a blue post and said that this ability IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER affected class tuning then I’m ok with it staying, it is flavorful.
However if it affects class tuning WHATSOEVER then it really does need to go.
I can tell you already it affects tuning. The first round of nerfs in 10.0.7 after the rework included a nerf specifically to Instruments.
They’re balancing around it, which is dumb.
It also pollutes logs.
Are the 99%-100% parses actually there because the rotation/luck/cd timing was on point?
Or is it because they had 3-5 raid deaths, 1 every 10 sec or so? lol

Those logs, as all 99/100 are just RNG. Crit RNG, beacon crit RNG. Instruments also has an impact, but in those percentiles it’s not as important as it looks originally.
For those parses to be high, kill times usually are short. That means people live longer than usual.
