I had used the Algarian Stormrider when I pre-ordered TWW, but a buddy of mine just mentioned there’s no instructions for how to gain charge to use the new Lightning Rush ability when Skyriding. I looked into it and couldn’t find it any tooltips. Is this missing or could someone point it out to me, please?
It’s in the tooltip of something in the spellbook to do with skyriding. But in essence you have to hug walls or the ground (fly close to) to build up charges. Most people hate it.
You fly close to cliffs/walls to build up static charges (I think that’s what it’s called). At 10 you can hit lightning rush. It is very fast and costs no vigor, but it also severely hinders your ability to turn for its duration, so you have to pick you moments carefully.
Honestly, I hate the ability and I am so glad it’s now optional. I reckon just use it for the special races since they were designed with it in mind, and then just use whirling surge forever.
I just use Whirling Surge now that the pre-patch is live. If you open the Skyriding talents, you’ll see Whirling Surge and Lightning Rush are now a Choice Node.
Lightning Rush is a neat concept on paper, but the actual implementation is clunky and just not worth the effort, imo.
There was a quest that came with that mount that had you do a run with your mount which taught you how to use that ability. Not sure if it’s still around, I’d be surprised if it wasn’t. It was with one of the racing guys.
The instructions for Lightning Rush are: don’t use it.
If you find the tooltip, could you post the name of it in here? I am familiar with how the ability works, but my buddy was just wondering how anyone who didn’t preorder was supposed to know how it works.
