Blizzard should follow Nintendo’s example. When Nintendo didnt hit “expected projections” Iwata, and other executives, took pay cuts, instead of giant bonuses. If your company doesnt hit projections, or even loses money, ultimately the responsibility falls upon the top level leadership, period. It does NOT fall on your lower level network workers, or your CMs, or all of the other NON Development emplyoees.
If people dont buy your game, or stop playing, the blame falls on top tier devs/leadership and therefore the cuts should come from them.
In order to follow Iwata’s example however, would require the same passion and love of creating that he had, and seems to be missing around here some days.
This is a publicly traded company in the NYSE. People try to make as much money as they can before they retire, even at the expense of the people whom propped them up.
The plan is to raid the company, not save it dummy!
Jeez, get with the program…
You witnessed the rise of the industry, now watch the parasites bleed it dry. There used to be laws against this kind of thing… That being said, the japanese are much more loyal to the companies that pay their salaries and are willing to take responsibility for their screw ups.
Yes, I am aware Nintendo does scummy stuff like copyright claim youtube videos in sheer defiance of U.S. Fair Use law. Doesn’t discredit the example OP is referencing that is specifically applicable to Satoru Iwata’s behavior.
I bought a Switch instead of a PS4 or XB1 simply because I know the nintendo products will be creative. First console I bought since the RORD-ridden Xbox360 back during Halo 3’s prime
Same, used to do X-box before I even played PC. I owned four 360’s, three of them RRoD the final didn’t even get 3 hours play time. After that it was just Wii, Wii U, and Switch.
Activision isn’t Nintendo. This company doesn’t care about it’s employees, or customers for that matter. They only care about making money, and they don’t care about anyone but themselves. It shows in their actions. They’d rather churn out copy pasted COD games every year than make something new and exciting. They’d rather fire good people who make their company look good than take a pay cut. This is how greed works. When this company inevitably files for bankruptcy, they’ll be the ones rushing to liquidate it so they can take the money and run, rather than try to save it.
