Stay confused, a this confusion is of your own making!
No Iâm certain you are the source of my confusion. Because you claim that players donât affect you and simultaneously do affect you. It seems the only distinguishing factor is your preference or where you draw the line in the sand. You say perma death does affect you but trading doesnât affect you. Hmm.
ONE LAST TIME: Because this is the rules of the HC server.
So you are ok with trading?
But if Blizz made the rules not to trade, you would defend those HC rules?
If no trading and no AH and all the addon-rules were implemented on the official servers, I would defend these rules - probably I would not do it very much, same as I do not discuss PvP rules - because as I do not like those rules, I would never play there. Fun is the reason I play, not rules.
just a shame that the addon rules made the game more fun/interesting/new/addictive.
and we did away with them allâŚ
Well, I think we have to agree to disagree.
I found the No death concept back in 2012 with IronMan, and have played that style ever since. I tried the addon a couple of times, but never found it added anything, rather subtracted, as it was at the same time too restrictive and too permissive - not very fun or interesting and certainly not new
Iâm happy with the official HC servers, where we all can add our own personal challenges to the No death baseline.
Thereâs nothing fun about playing classic as a single player game
And does the official server break the addon? If you enjoy that challenge then it doesnt affect you nudgey. Or is it that you want to lord over other players?
nah iâve said it over and over, i want a SSF server.
the noobs can have their weak grouptrade to 60 server, idc.
As long as you equip green or blue items or use potions and buffs, youâre the weakcore player. But youâre welcome to do so in the official HC realms, because it does not hurt me.
The addon is broken on its own but the ruleset is better. We donât want to lord over other players nor forbid them from trading. Modifying Soul of Iron to opt-in to no trading is what we really want. That way, everyone can trade or not trade. Player choice is what everyone should advocate for. We need Soul of Iron modified to give no-traders that choice. The addon isnât reliable.
It seems reasonable to add an opt in option. I wouldnât play SSF, but would not mind trailering the HC experience with a few options at character create.
I just checked the 1.14.4 PTR and instant mail between alts is not a thing.
I agree. We should also be able to buy a 60 boost and buy/use the Token.
Who do all of these people think they are trying to restrict the way we want to play, amiright?
/s
So much this. Baseline No Death, the rest is up to every single player!
Umm⌠No.
This is restrictive to how I want to play the game. HC should be opt in and reversable upon death.
If we truly value player autonomy and total freedom, your suggestion would be restrictive and terrible.
slash le s
But this is what you already have on normal server. Just go and play there. The whole idea behind HC servers is the No death concept.
Thereâs no HC opt in there. I want to play on the HC server.
Why are you so insistent on limiting my freedoms in how I play? It doesnât affect you, after all, does it?
If youâre limiting my freedom, it concerns me, yes. No way else, as you well know.
And if you had your way with addon servers, it sure would limit my freedom to play IronMan, as I cannot if using the addon rules. I have tried.
I am clearly being facetious here, but the point Iâm trying to make is that you cannot design a game like WoW around player freedoms being the top of the hierarchy in terms of game design.
But most people that advocate this âplayer freedom first and onlyâ mentality overwhelmingly slam into a breach of their own logic and canât seem to come up with anything to say for it.
What they run into is that if a game is designed for player freedoms as the overarching motivation for its creation⌠It just becomes a sandbox, every single time. This is because if any rule is suggested, it can be just as easily dismissed for limiting player freedoms. What WoW would actually look like if designed like this would be more absurd than it already is. Insta max level. Insta gear. One shot kills. Inta fast travel anywhere.
It just⌠isnât really a game anyone would want to play.
Games like WoW should be developed by defining the gameplay and rules first, THEN should try to maximize player freedoms within that ruleset. Otherwise, like I said, you get a sandbox with infinite freedoms and no fun. How many successful sandbox MMOs are kicking around out there?
âŚThere is a reason for that.
