Instant Casts are out-of-control

Instant casts need a nerf. There is no counterplay to them, outside of silences and instant cc.

I just believe it would be difficult to nerf them, without significantly buffing casting.

Just a little vent. Eternity Surge, Star Surge, Ice Lance, etc. Just silly stuff.

Uh, no. They don’t. Quit having anxiety attacks over Holy Paladins. Almost all CC is instant. Even precognition isn’t going to save people from double melee forever. Instant casts are extremely necessary, as MS effects/healing reduction on top of back-to-back hits from double melee are way too much. Try tanking a warrior of any type, and a druid at the same time as a healer, without PERFECT juking. I dare you. Warriors and druid instant cast bleeds are BEYOND OP.

HOLY PALADINS ARE WAY TOO GOOD AT DAMAGING YOU WITH STARSURGE AND ICE LANCE. QUIT GETTING 1 SHOTTED BY THE HOLY PALADINS, AND LoS THE CHI WAVES.

All are hunter (0 cast) now lol

To nerf instant casts, you need to nerf mobility first.

This. It’s been a mobility arms race for a long long time. Classes are bloated rn and have way too much in their kit.

Eternity Surge is not instantaneous. It can be every 2m, but it would be a waste of Tip the scales

By all means. I’d give up Shimmer and Displacement AND the barriers for an uber Flameglow and deep freeze :smiley:
Edit: The entire burst rotation is instant, though… even Frostfire Bolt procs…
This issue goes deep.

We can thank PvE for this. All the fights require so much moving these days. :frowning:

I think damage profiles mostly feel fine. While casters surely have a good amount of instant damage, they all feel much scarier when you actually allow them to plant and cast.

Tip of the Scales is a much better version of Presence of Mind then? Instant cast and Maximum Effect. Even when Presence of Mind is used, it is cast at its current charge (whether one to four), unless you use Touch of the Magi, which is using two cool downs.

All I am saying is, I am a little envious of how much love went into some of the spells for Evoker. They look amazing, have great synergy, and your cool downs are pretty impactful.

I’d love for Presence of Mind to even LOWER the cast time of Arcane Surge (not even instant). Currently only useable for Arcane Blast, sucks.

Of course they are. How else are elemental shamans going to gouge you into a shadow bolt? Pretty sure you need IQ points. Someone wanna donate?

It’s an indirect consequence of melee becoming so mobile.

It’s gotten to a point where casters can’t kite anymore save for like frost mages. Melee stay on top of you pretty much the whole game except when you use mobility.

Due to this the threat of interrupts is present nearly 100% of the time, so casters have moved more toward instant casts and away from casting.

It’s also an indirect consequence of mythic+, where every spec needs mobility coupled with quick on demand damage and utility. All casters are moving toward instant or quick casts. Everyone needs a kick (even healers now).

Basically, because the game has gotten so competitive, specs are converging to be similar to one another, rather than retaining uniqueness and strength/weaknesses
