In the drop down menu via right clicking character portrait there are Instance options for Dungeon Difficulty and Raid Difficulty. We need a 3rd option for Legacy mode for transmog farmers.
We don’t want free guaranteed gear for the class armor type we are running on. But, even if we could just get rings, trinkets, necks and legion relics removed from the loot tables while in legacy mode. It really is a bad feeling running for transmog and getting nothing but rings, necks, trinkets and relics to drop back to back to back. Just feels bad.
Also legacy mode can and still drop pets and mounts ofc.
Since you said “Instance options” are you asking for this as a queued option in LFD/LFR, or is this just a loot-table option (legacy mode) for xmogers that still manually walk into an instance?
Are you saying that rings, trinkets, necks, and legion relics (in legion-only dungeons/raids I would presume) are the only things in the loot table or just that you had bad luck fishing for a slot that isn’t one of those?
Are there enough xmogers that would pay a sub fee (returning players if implemented or unsubscribers if not implemented) to make this a good business decision for Blizzard or should they spend their dev resources on current efforts?
I think this is a great concept that provides help to transmog farmers, if it was trivial to design, implement, and test. Given the breadth of legacy dungeons/raids, I don’t think it is trivial, so there has to be a business decision on whether or not this would likely be profitable or a loss.
yes it could be added to the drop down menu as an option for solo play and group play.
well i, like many others that i have seen discussing would see an absurd amount of necks, rings, trinkets and then in legion raids relics drop. with a legacy instance mode this will wipe these items off the loot table because they cannot be used as transmog and are a waste of time, effort and a lockout when multiple bosses are dropping nothing but them.
i am fully capable and able to run for mog, it is just that because i have been farming every set and item in game now for the past 3-4 months in my down time i cannot help but notice that there is an exceedingly, abnormally amount that tend to drop. (tin foil hat - almost like it is designed to drop at a higher rate to slow mog collecting)
i seen posters asking for legacy raids to only drop their tokens and their armor type. but i feel that is not necessary and a bit extreme. i would just be happy if we could have a legacy mode that excludes all necks, rings, trinkets and relics from all the raids loot tables.
no we just want to eliminate items that cannot be transmogged. aka useless items.
I think it is designed to drop things that were useful to all classes/specs at a higher rate than class/spec-specific items, because the original design expected a full size raid of 10-30 players with a variety of classes/specs represented.
It is a bit tin-foil hat to think they designed something back in 2016 to frustrate transmog collectors in 2023. They likely didn’t think or care about the impacts of transmog drop rates in the future, since they were worried about setting up loot tables to meet their acquisition rates for gear back in 2016 for the raiders of that time.
Now they did go back and nerf the gold values on old loot tables so clearly they though that was a value-added effort (to combat gold inflation I guess?), so I won’t say they’ll never do your proposed change, but again it has to be a value-added business case for them to do it. It is a for-profit company after all.
Man that gold nerf was hard, I remember figuring out which dungeons were best and I miss being able to grind 50-80K per week (depending on how many alts I ran through Hellfire Citadel). It used to look like this, but these values were reduced by more than 50% (totally not worth the time anymore).
Again, if they were willing to nerf gold that hard they might consider your legacy loot table thing if they think it’s worth the effort.
I find this annoying on world bosses too, since I have toons that I could run them on that could ‘learn’ the item, but it’s not on a classes loot table, they can’t get certain items.
You are saying you dont want guaranteed armor loot drops but it seems like you are.
I have a bowl full of red, blue and green marbles.
I dont want only green marbles, i want them to remove all the red and blue ones.
Regardless, if there could be a special version that would help for legacy runs sure, make it happen. In fact as long as weʻre making wishes, letʻs kick it up a notch.
Id like to specify what class drops will happen. I donʻt need any cloth gear this run, my alt shaman needs a look as well.
So only put the plate and mail drops on the loot tables.
yes. but it can stay random for cloth, leather, plate, mail, weapons etc… so you are still not guaranteed an item. but it will at least increase your chances because rings, necks, trinkets and relics that serve no transmog purpose will be excluded.
while that would be nice. that is asking for too much. i seen people asking for that in a thread a while back. and in order to take you gotta give. i think players are willing to put in the work but in some off rng times having 2-3 bosses drop nothing put necks and or rings and 0 mog armor types is pretty disheartening.
yes tell me about it.
I soloed a rare a few days ago that actually has a decent loot table.
All i got was some crafting currency, a hunting trophy and a bit of gold.
