Installation stuck on "Initializing"

I bought the game with the intent to play it, but…

After clicking on Installing and selecting the partition, the game does not install. I already tried scanning and repairing the installation too; nothing seems to work. I can’t play the game because the installation doesn’t go through.

Initializing… 0%

I have been trying to fix this issue for over 2 hours.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

Thanks!

I am having the same issue

Please try what’s listed in this support article and see if that fixes it.

I already tried that and it didn’t work

Hi Borathal

Have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling the Bnet App:

Uninstalling the Battle.net Desktop App - Blizzard Support

*Step 5 is important - delete the Battle.net tools folder. If you have already done this do it again.

This could be caused by Antivirus taking a dislike to the goings on. What Antivirus are you running? Even disabling Antivirus might not help.

Any fix to this? I am going on 14 hours of just initializing

I think we both hit post at the same time - check above.

Create a named directory…point to that directory to install.
Make sure that it has a least 100GB of free space and formatted NTFS.

No success. Idk what to do anymore I am almost in tears over this.

Not running antivirus it’s already turned off and disabled:

What antivirus do you have installed there?

None. I’ve just been using windows firewall

Windows always plays nice with Wow. That won’t be the issue. Is this a fresh install of the entire game or are you updating an old installation?

Have you ever had any other antivirus installed - like AVG or Avast - Norton - McAfee etc.

Fresh install. And no I have not.

Update on this classic installs fine but retail is having the issues

When you installed the Battlenet App - was that installed on your C drive?

I just want to play the game. I have an active subscription and feel like it’s being wasted. Is there any chance tomorrows maintenance could fix this?

It’s on my external

I wouldn’t be hopeful that the maintenance will fix this.

The issue could well be there - the game isn’t likely to play well on an external drive. Though some folk have luck there. You would want the Battlenet App itself on the C drive. You can then install the game on another drive.
