Insane lag in game (100-1,000 MS)

never had issues with latency in WoW or with my internet in general, but it’s been almost two hours where the game is consistently hitting me with around 1,000 MS, alternating between over 100 to around 800.

just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue?

i checked blizzard’s twitter account and only found one other person reporting issues, with the blizzard account saying they’ve had other people say similar things.

edit: checked other servers, same thing. i think we’re getting ddo’sed, I don’t know. superbowl, mythic boss finals, haha

I am having issues, Cannot use portals, cannot hand quests in, keep getting d/c’d and it has NOTHING to do with my net, my computer, my ISP or anything like that, this is a GAME issue, PLEASE PLEASE fix this Blizzard…all of my guildies online are having massive in-game issues as well, cannot play

Hey y’all,

We aren’t aware of any latency issues on our side. If you can provide a WinMTR test though, this may help pinpoint the problem:

  1. Download WinMTR
  2. Unzip the file to your desktop
  3. Run the WinMTR as Admin
  4. Type the region IP in the “host” field.
  5. Click “Start” and open the game. Start the WinMTR before a game let it run for at least 10 minutes to capture this issue occurring.
  6. Click “Copy text to clipboard” and paste here.

Actually, my latency for home and world is 9ms in-game, there is something else happening to the game, preventing ppl from playing, I cannot enter the heart forge, use flight-masters, complete quests, run dungeons or anything, please fix…

You’re not alone OP. My home is over 800ms and World is 1700+ms gave up trying to play. I’m on Echo Isles server. Personally though, I’ve been getting horrible lag since 8.3 update. :frowning:

Same issue on Saurfang.
Anywhere that is not BFA capitol cities is fine. Otherwise its a huge lag fest. As per others, nothing wrong with my internet. I am sitting at 12ms ping, and outside of the capitols is normal.
Inside the capitols its 5-30sec lag spikes.

This has been ongoing since BFA came out, and only affects the capitol city areas.
Just login to the game and you can confirm the lag. Its much worse during peak periods, although something is clearly broken as its not peak and playing up.

Finally loaded from a 5min loading screen, but unable to do anything.

Heres 10mins of WinMTR, of me trying to start follower missions. Eventually got there, what should take 10seconds took 10mins though.

I’m having the same problem. Wow is unplayable today. Any command take more or less 15 seconds to execute =/

It looks like you are getting 12% packet loss between the computer and ISP, and the latency is jumping up to 1,714ms. This is likely causing the problems you are experiencing in game. Can you try testing another network like a mobile hotspot to compare the difference?

you know what, uninstalling my VPN worked.

it’s always causing me issues. no more lag.
