Insane in the Membrane achievement not popping >.< What am I missing?

Hey all,

I’ve recently come back to WoW after a long break and decided to finally finish the Insane in the Membrane achievement. Back in 2010, I had already done the Bloodsail Buccaneers rep grind, got to Honored (or Exalted, whatever the highest tier was back then), earned the Bloodsail Admiral title, and the hat. Woo!

Fast forward to now:

  • Got all Steamwheedle factions(Booty Bay, Everlook, Gadgetzan, and Ratchet) to Exalted
  • Ravenholdt to Exalted (painful but done)
  • Most recently finished Darkmoon Faire to Exalted

After turning in my last DMF deck and hitting Exalted, I was expecting the achievement to finally pop…but… nothing.

I checked the rep window and noticed that my Bloodsail rep is now back to Hated, which I’m assuming happened during the Steamwheedle grind since they’re enemies. But now I’m confused…wasn’t my previous Bloodsail progress supposed to count?

Am I missing something? Do you have to get all the required reps to Exalted at the same time for it to trigger? Or do I need to regrind Bloodsail after Steamwheedle to have them all logged together? That would absolutely suck, and wouldn’t I lose all the Steamwheedle rep?

Anyone else run into this? I’d really appreciate any insights before I throw myself off the cliffs in Booty Bay and give up on this achieve.

The only obvious thing I don’t see in your description is that you didn’t log out and back in. That seems to be required to trigger the achievement.

Also, all the reputation has to be on the same character.

CORRECTIONS are highlighted.

It was not required to reach Exalted status with the Bloodsail in order to receive the Bloodsail Admiral title and achievement. The Avast Ye, Admiral achievement only required Friendly status with the Bloodsail. Insane achievement only requires Honored with the Bloodsail.

With that in mind, did you have your Bloodsail at Honored prior to starting the Steamwheedle rep grinds?

I kinda messed up when I did my Insane grind. I had all my Goblins at Exalted and of course that wrecked what Bloodsail rep I had at the time (from questing), so I had to regrind my Bloodsail rep (which in turn damaged some of my Steamwheedle reps). So I had to do enough cloth turn-ins to get the Goblins to not attack me on sight, lol.

It is not required to have them all at Exalted at once. Bloodsail rep is only required to reach Honored for the Insane achievement.

It really shouldn’t take that long to regrind the Bloodsail rep to Honored. Be sure to use your guild banner to boost rep while you are killing the Bruisers.

Thanks! It was so far back, 2010, so the rep could have been at honored or exalted.

If I restart the grind with Bloodsail to get back to exalted and damage the Steamwheedle rep, do I then need to grind the Steamwheedle rep back up?

You will not need to redo Steamwheedle once you got them to Exalted. Reaching Exalted already with them will count towards the achievement.

But you might want to do the cloth turn-in quests with the Goblins later, should you ever desire to interact with them.

Thank you. Any pointers on just grinding out the Buccaneer rep in 2025? I’ve got the DF buff and the battle standard to help. I saw some posts about using a phased version of booty bay?

That is what I did on this character. But that is because I did the Bloodsail Admiral title achievement on my Monk, so the quests were still available on Kyzera. You mentioned already doing that achievement, so it sounds like those quests are already completed for your character.

I just want to correct something, and I will be changing my earlier posts.

The Insane achievement only requires Honored with the Bloodsail.

So the grind won’t be as bad as was expected.

I can’t mark myself as “at war” with the Bloodsail Buccaneers now even though I’m hated. Ugh this is so confusing.

You should be marking yourself at war with the Goblins, not the Bloodsail.

Also, if Booty Bay looks like this, then you are still in the phased version of Booty Bay. I just checked on the Monk who did the Avast Ye, Admiral achieve and it is still phased for her.

And now I see that I’m not in the phased version of BB.
