The flight path route from Firebeard’s Patrol in Twilight Highlands to Refuge Point in Arathi makes no sense.
First, you fly all the way to Highbank. which is in the opposite direction, for whatever reason. Then, you fly back to less than 50 yards from Firebeard’s Patrol, where you left from. After this, you go through Wetlands, which is a little out of the way but seems normal. And instead of turning right and going north to Arathi, you go and visit THELSAMAR in Loch Modan!! Then you’re back to Slabchisel’s Survey in Wetlands which you passed on your way to Loch Modan 
The flight was 11 minutes.
This flight path is so silly. Anyway, hope you enjoyed reading and I encourage you to try out this insane flight path for yourself. Sometimes flight birds get lost too!

There was one in Warlords, not sure if they fixed it, haven’t checked, that would literally fly you in a straight line. Problem with a straight line is that differences in elevation is a thing so it took you right through the world lol.

If you would have flown Sothwest Gryphons you could have made a direct flight but you chose Delta Birdways.

My neighbor took a trip to Alaska from St. Louis. The flight went from St. Louis to New York then into Canada and back to New York before heading to Alaska.

I thought this only happened to me! That it was a fluke when my mount clipped right through a mountain.
One time my guy smashed into a cliff and slowly climbed toward the top; grinding against the rock face as it made its ascent.

All the Flight Masters are in an “organization” that conspires to take the most convoluted paths to maximize cost to the rider. Since most people AFK they can get away with.
The Flight Masters are making big bank on this because no one notices and extra few silver here and there. Add that up across the player base and you’ve got quite a profit.

I read a book like that once - it was by a very not good British author and set in Los Angeles and anyone who had spent time in the city could tell they just picked names off a map. It would have been hilarious if it wasn’t so distracting.

I like flying around on the PTR, especially when they add new terrain or structures to the world. I remember when Legion Invasions were about to be added. One took you crashing through the legion ships that appear. I guess flight paths are the last thing they check.
Panda Land is the worst. When you pass through some zones you literally circle the entire thing before moving on. For some zones, it makes no sense that you would even need to enter them as it is going out of the way. This is in addition to the normal zig-zag of most flight patch’s in the game. Personally I think it helps create the illusion that the zones are much much larger than they actually are.

Silvermoon to anywhere else if for some reason you decide to fly. Have enough time to make a three course meal while waiting to be dropped off.
Ever take Isle of Quel’Danas to Booty Bay? It takes 15 minutes but is quite relaxing.

Cata and MoP flight paths have always been totally screwed up. I’ve seen flight paths go out to Vash’ir for some reason even though where you’re trying to go is no where near there.
I suspect the reason for the borked Cata flight paths was to deal with players who didn’t buy the Cata expac. But MoP flight paths have no excuse.

The long werid flight paths that take ages to go from point A to B are a big reason im a engy that can use wormholes and have the dal hearthstone in my bag for a quick trip to my main city and then to the portal room to get to whereever i want in a min
But it is funny seeing flight parths that takes ages, have werid parthing and clips thought cliffs and even the ground
