If essences had been release since the start of the expansion I would have been fine no catchup or account bound. But it was released in the middle of an expansion.
And it’s fine that you have to do stuff on alts to get them stronger.
And the reason why it’s a lot better with the port items because you have them forever, unlike essences and gear that will be irrelevant next expansion.
That was Panda flight routes.
I remember posting complaints about it, back during Panda. It was HORRIBLE.
It did seem to very much be a MAU/whatever thing, before that was even a thing really. I remember us being really surprised:
“there seems to be no reason for doing this, besides having us go read things while our character takes forever to fly anywhere…”

Kind of an irritating switch, like when I use one of my 3 stormwind cloaks.
Developers were told about this back in MoP and they still can’t make correct flight paths in the game. They don’t care because it makes you play longer which is all they seem to be after.
I think you’re right about their intention to increase played time metrics. Ironically, they probably don’t realize that it backfires.
Flight path = afk or alt-tab until I land. That won’t show up in their metrics because it’s still considered an “active” character, so maybe they don’t realize what a mistake long flight paths are. If it’s a shorter flight path then I’m less likely to go afk.
Annoying flight paths are the main reason I prefer flying on my own terms, the only times I prefer the taxi route is when I wanna afk while I use the restroom, get some water, find a snack, watch a TV show and then land.
Despite a ton of diversion in this topic, the original point still stands. This particular flight path is hugely flawed, and the way in which flight paths function in general is as well.

Believe me I’m not one to defend blizzard but in mop we all got flying at max level. So their flight paths are messed up and they never bothered to fix them. Getting the trinket from timeless isle is easy. Getting the rep is super fast now since you just go on a mass murder spree on the isle and one shot everything. I think that trinket is worth the little effort. I love going there once in a while.
Fly to the Ghostlands, You have to go all the way around Quel’danas, that’s one loadingscreen, a path all around the island, then through another loading screen just to get to the ghostlands.
So then you should be able to just go out there and pick up the trinket if you already did the rep bud.

Sure you can. But the topic is flight paths and in particular the one to Timeless Isle. The OP nor anyone else is denying there are other ways of getting there. However, that’s not the discussion, either.
There isn’t much point in complaining about something that won’t ever get fixed so the best thing to do is find an alternative to the thing causing the aggravation. Which most of us are doing.

I’m pretty sure that flight path is not on the devs need to fix list. If it was it would’ve been fixed 3 or 4 expansions ago.
You and everyone else is correct though. Flight Paths are pretty much a wreck every where. Seems no one informed Blizz the fastest way between two points is a stright line lol!!
