- Move the Survival Hunter spec to DH, and rename it Inquisitor.
- Replace the Hunter pet with an enslaved demon.
- Rename abilities, talents, and essences as needed.
- Change graphics as needed.
- Keep all current effects intact.
- Inquisitors use 2h glaives.
Time to piss locks off again!
Interesting premise, definitely fits with how we have brand debuff as well
Making a hunter melee. Worst idea everrrrrrrrrrr! Made me retire my hunter I played since TBC. Friggin blizz
An inquisitor in the WoW universe is a fel caster demon and you want to make it a melee spec with a pet? I honestly thought this was going to be another ranged caster spec idea based on the thread title.
Also, lore-wise there’s no reason a Demon Hunter would be running around with a summoned/enslaved demon. They would be more likely to kill it as Demon Hunters notoriously hate all demons. The demon minion is more of a Warlock thing.
An Inquistor demon is not the same thing as an Inquisitor Demon Hunter, lore hasn’t mattered to Bliz since Wrath, the Surv spec makes for a good DH once you change the names/graphics (ie traps become sigils, viper sting can become a ranged fel eye attack, etc,) and if the enslaved demon bothers you so much you could swap it out for one of Lady S’theno’s Naga, or a broken.
There is no such thing as an inquisitor Demon Hunter. That’s the thing. How can you say they’re not the same when one literally doesn’t even exist?
And saying the lore doesn’t matter may apply to you and your random head canon fantasy specs, but to Blizzard and a LOT of people who play the game the lore matters, and your idea doesn’t fit lore.
I like the idea of a 3rd spec that doesn’t gut the other 2 specs, and if you switch some stuff around then the Hunter Surv spec probably would make a decent DH spec, but the rest of the ideas for the spec just aren’t good when you factor in the lore and what Demon Hunters are all about.
Also, if you make a pet out of one of the Illidari Naga or Broken that’s basically just like having a companion back from Legion. Not that I didn’t like the companions, just that aside from those companions they would never be a “pet” for your character.
I can say it because I’m making it up! For example, there was no such thing as The Order of Embers for a long time, and yet, here they are because someone made them up and the idea stuck - and that logic applies to every new thing added to Wow.
Bear in mind, there are also lots of types of Inquisitors in Wow, such as the Inquisitors of the Order of Embers, so adding one more won’t hurt.
As far as lore goes, I stopped caring about lore ramifications after WOTLK, because Blizzard has trampled on it as needed ever since, and you could probably also argue that adding a new spec to Demon Hunters would change the lore no matter what that spec is.
Nah, I’d much rather have a ranged spec or even a healer spec (like draining the soul from enemies and channeling it into allies or whatever).
